So the game play trailer is Gears 2 running on UE3?

^^No, the trailer was from UE2, which the original Gears ran on. Unreal Tournament used UE3, and now Gears 2 will use 'UE3.5'

What I gathered from the article was. (And I'm looking at it through this guys eyes)

"Aw man I wanted GeoW2 to blow everything out of the water. This isn't up to my expectations. I am going to obsess over it.... Wait... Whats this? NO SCAR!!! THIS MUST MEAN THAT THERE ISNT THAT MUCH DETAIL IN THESE GRAPHICS WHICH OBVIOUSLY MEANS THIS IS AN OLD ENGINE!!!!!!!"

NO, GEOW 1 ran on UE 3....it was their "main" show off for the engine

Are people really expecting that huge of a leap between these graphics?

I can see them being more polished and such but a huge leap?

The most effective way to bash a console is to pretend that you like it, but then sneak in a negative tone, language and arguments. That way you lure the reader into thinking you are presenting valid arguments. Also, it makes it harder for chritics to just dismiss you as a fanboy.

So lets examine this post, the methods of trying to create a negative aura around a game coming to the X360:

The thread title, very negative:
"Gears of War: Details and disappointments"

This line makes it sound like the graphics quality of the game remains an enigma:
"The moral of the story is that we wait and watch till E3 2008 when CliffyB will showcase a brand new gameplay trailer with a much updated engine, but until then, we can wonder…"


He is trying to steer the following discussion into questioning the game's GOTY status:
"YOUr thoughts.....will GEOW 2 NOT take away the GOTY 08 awards anymore?"

And in the same sub-forum he has a thread with this blatant title (the main competitor to GoW2):
"MGS4 = Gone Gold Ceremony! [MUST READ] --- GOTY 08 NO DOUBTS!!!"
