MikeB said: Install base for the end of 2007 according to Sony Australia:
238,000 PS3 (includes Bravia deals, sold in 9 months and 1 week) 306,000 Xbox 360 (21 months and 1 week)
On average about 6.400 PS3s per week. On average about 3.600 360 per week.
IMO the latest Sony/GfK data and the release of MGS4 makes it seem likely a similar trend will continue for the rest of the year.
At such a rate the PS3 should be able to overtake the 360's total install base for Australia before December 2008 or if sales slow down at least finish the job over the holidays. A good achievement as Australia like the UK are two of the strongest 360 markets outside of North America. |
Gfk had PS3 at around 155k at the end of the year, so your number is completely off. The 238k is a recent number released by Sony themselves.
About the article mentioned in the opening post, it states EB accounts for 70% of games sales in Australia, are they really that big there? And does Gfk extrapolate EB's sales into their numbers or are Gfk numbers only 30% or even less than 30% of the total market? Cause if they extrapolated for EB games than you really can't add their numbers again to Gfk totals.
