Not far off my predictions lol. BTW Wii gaining market share is no big deal considering it is selling more than the 360 and PS3 combined most weeks.

The Wii increasing Market Share is kinda a bigger deal. It's a lot harder to gain market share when your the leader then if you were in last place. To gain Market Share when you are in first place you need to beat your two competitors combined. In third you only have to do a little better then you were previously doing... you don't even have to beat the guy in 2nd place... just improve your ratio a bit. (Though it has beat 360 plenty of weeks.) |
This is somewhat mis-stated. To gain market share, regardless of what place you're in, you have to sell more than your current market share. So if your share is 10% and you sell 11% next week, your market share will improve (slightly). The Wii doesn't have to sell more than the PS3 and 360 combined in order to increase its market share, it needs only to sell more than its current market share. So if the Wii sells 49% next week, and the other two sell 51% combined, the Wii's market share will still improve, since it is currently at 45%. It is, of course, more difficult to sell >45% than it is to sell >33% or >22%, so yes, the market leader increasing its share could be considered more significant.
What is true is that in order to obtain more than 50% market share, the Wii would need to sell more than its competitors combined for some time. The only way to push your total above 50% is to sell above 50% for a while.
as happy as I am to see this yeah wake me up when it's at a higher % or if it his 22% in the US

Rock-on_2008, I can understand making a retaliatory thread but do so when it's significant.
Perhaps you can compare it to a historical market share to give some context.
The rEVOLution is not being televised
Falling from 70% marketshare in last gen to 22% and yet the Sony fanboys are extatic.
Only 48 more threads to go.

There was no competition for the PS2 last generation , The 360 wouldn't be ahead if it hadn't launched a whole year before the PS3 , the Wii is revolutionary as it's able to sell to markets currently existing and establish new ones.
The PS3 isn't "Falling" in any respect as it is an entirley different product/generation from the PS2.
ahahahhahahahahahhahahahhahahahhahahahahahhahahahahahhahahahahah
END OF YEAR PREDICTIONS
