ps3 won't beat x360 in total sales, before christmas 2009. it's imposible for ps3 to sell almost 20mln consoles in one year with such high price, besides without japan sony doesn't have any chance to hit that 30mln even till the end of 2009 right now - especially when dlc for gta 4 gonna hit xbox 360(i would say it will be 19 mln at the end of 2008 and 28mln at the end of 2009). without strong titles that aren't racers or FPSs ps3 doesn't have a chance to do it.

uhmm, I think it's all about pricecuts. If PS3 get 300€/$ point by end 2008 it is possible. I expect about 23m in decembers end. So if FFXIII and GT5 arrives in the first half of 2009 the sales will be strong in these months. I'm seeing it in the high 20's by mid 2009

I think is difficult to reach 30 million by july 2009. By july 2008 it will be at about 13.5-14m so it means a little higher than 16 million in on year, not 20 million

It is possible, but the PS3 would need to see a worldwide price-cut, being $100 in the US, £50-100 in the UK (and the equivalent euro price) and about 5,000-8,000 yen (just guesses on this one).

This would see console sales being much better than at the moment, as the console would be priced closer to what the PS2 was when it was at this time in its lifetime!

We will just have to wait and see!

I see that as possible. This year it will be at over 20m, and with boosts from Killzone 2 and maybe God of War in the new year, it should be able to sell 7m consoles in the first half of that year. It is on track to sell around 5 by the end of this first half (without taking into consideration the effect of MGS 4), so it could just reach 30m, definitely shipped, but maybe not sold

So far this year it has sold 3.5m consoles, the sources statistic prediction put it at around 13m, but MGS 4 and a price cut should push that up to 15m. That would leave it on 23.5m by the end of this year. So it would need to sell 6.5m console in the first half of the year. So far this year it has sold 3.6m consoles (360 has sold 2.7m for reference) so that should lead to about 5.75m sales (5.4 by adding half, 350k mgs boost). So it would only need to improve by 0.75m. I would expect better JP sales next year, and an extra boost from KZ2 especially in the americas, but there will not be the GTA boost or GT 5 p boost, so it will only improve a tiny bit, so I don't think it can quite reach it, it will make 29m though

FFXIII will make a big push in Japan. slightly less in other areas, although I'm waiting for that game to get my PS3. For now I'm sticking with my aging PC : P

16 million in one year is massive, PS3 sold 12.37 million in a year and a half including 2 holiday seasons in Japan and America.

But we do agree it will be sometime late next year right? i hope. 2010 it will definitly be in the lead if not early 2010.

To reach this, the PS3 must sell around 314821 consoles worldwide each week (56 weeks).

yea with a crazy higher price tag and it wasnt out in the UK. all the reports show it selling 100% more and sometimes even more then that... its selling DOUBLE what it was a year and a half ago.....
