Forums - Sales - GTAIV Owns Mario Kart Wii

^

How to spin that? Ok, here I go.

Haha, I hate when stupid people call second week for legs. Legs are much later on, you can't just say that on second week.

Just look at this! SMG vs Cod4 360 in USA.

Week 1: (SMG/Cod4)
635/761K

Week 2:
384K/316K

This is the same as here, SMG had BIGGER second week, but in the long run CoD4 sold more! 4.21M>3.53M

CoD4 had better legs, and so will GTA IV, FFIII, MGS 4 HAZE, Gears of War, Resistance and OTHERS.

Did anybody consider the simple idea that Mario Kart Wii could even be limited in its sales potential by that megabox in which it is shipped? Me and my bro fit 5 Wii game cases inside the big box it came in. I mean that kind of physical limitation can really be a bear on your shipment numbers.

Well stores have extra shelf space for those (see Guitar Hero), so it isn't really a limitation.

Actually no singular software moves the Wii, I doubt MKWii had any real effect on the Wii's sales for that month, I don't believe anyone was joking when they say.

Wii Sales:

Supply = Units sold

Until Nintendo finds the demand curve it's almost impossible to actually tell when a software is moving units on that platform.

BTW, the Nintendo fanboys are claiming Wii Fit will own GTA IV, not Mario Kart.

Not for opening week sales, make that very clear. In the long run, not weeks or months but years.

Yep, Japan will play a big factor in that, with 2M Wii Fit units sold already.

Well yeah but that doesn't mean they can just magically wish more copies of Mario Kart Wii into the stores.  What I'm trying to says is that they will have to ship less MArio KArt per shipment, as opposed to games like SSBB and GTAIV, which come in normal boxes.  This is why the DS Lite redesign was such a genius move.  That shipment of 50 DS's turned a shipment of 60 DS Lites, just off the spared space they saved in the box.

I was just refering to shelf space. And shipment space is not really that much of an issue, with the size of typical cargo crates. Nintendo would just rent a few more crates per shipment, if they need to.

Your point seems theoretically true, but the reality is that MK Wii has a huge opening, well on par with games in normal boxes. That makes it highly unlikely the size of the boxes is hurting sales.
