^America is the highest ranked Western world country in the 4 murders per 100 000 people. America is ranked at 24th. America has 5% of the world's population has around one quarter of the world's prisoners.

BTW: Columbia is on top of the list with a staggering 62 murders per 100 000 people. Multiply the number by 100.

I will post the link with the statistics on prisoner rates of the US.

http://www.nationmaster.com/graph/cri_pri-crime-prisoners

^ US is ranked number 1 for prisoner numbers as of 23rd April  2008 is reported to have over 2 million prisoners out of a total of 8.34 million prisoners. Second place Chine is around half a million behind the US, China has 5 times the population of the US.

A lot of the prisoners in Cal. are illegals - for violent crimes. a lot more than pot smokers. I thought pot smokers don't go to jail for long but pot dealers.

Also, I was surprised to see Poland up there. What's up with Poland?

Interesting topic.

Never thought Eastern European countries would be that high.

How many prisoners do you think China has where they don't notify the international census though? How many people in other countries would just be outright killed for something they get thrown in jail for in the US?

Though still a lot of people do get thrown in jail for BS things as well.

As for the murder rates. I assume that has to do with the fact that America has the biggest "gap" in the first world when it comes to distribution of wealth.

How many murders go unreported in places that don't have the means to report them, and instead just list them as "missing" or "moved on".

Or just don't get reported because of state sponsered genocide.

Poland has the last decennia some problems...Especially a high rate of unemployed people who went to the wrong road....You know..Get rich and die trying...Impressed China s not on the top 25.

Go Mexico, go go!

The fact that china isn't on the top 25 makes me suspicious, although I suppose their numbers might be diluted by the sheer size of their population....they need to get another GD national hobby...like murder....
