Wow, I have never read anything so wrong or ignorant, ever.
If you look at Sqrl's fine articles, you would see that the 2007 holiday season, when Halo 3 launched, was by a good amount the largest holiday season the 360 had seen. Much larger than the 2006 season when Gears of War launched, and much larger then the 2005 season when the 360 launched.
The PS3 and 360 saw huge boosts this week when GTA IV launched. What you're forgetting is that the Wii is still in very high demand in North America, so Nintendo sent a massive amount of stock to the region in preparation for the Mario Kart Wii launch, one of the biggest games for the Wii.
As for calling the race for Nintendo, it was pretty much certain from the start of '07. If it took you that long to say, "Hmm, I think Nintendo might win this time around", then you must have missed the part WHERE THE WII BECAME THE HIGHEST SELLING HOME CONSOLE OF THIS GENERATION!
*Sigh*
