6 batteries needed for Gamegear backlit screen. Taking out the battery to put in a game into the N-gage. Throwing Saturn on the shelves with very little advertisement to "surprise" people at E3.

1.  "HD DVD not standard on 360"

This was not a mistake at all; in fact, it would have been a HUGE mistake for Microsoft (and this coming from someone who thinks that Blu-ray in PS3 was not a mistake for Sony).  The best-case scenario I can see is that the 360 would have launched for $400/500 (not $300/400) with Microsoft eating the rest of the added cost; and the 360 having a more sluggish launch year than it already did, due to shortages in the first half and due to price later on.

The worst case?  Same launch price, but the slower launch period means that when the RRoD becomes apparent, the 360 doesn't have enough momentum to overcome the bad press; the bleeding away of former PlayStation exclusives to PS3/360 multiplat grinds to a halt (GTAIV is still multi) and 360 sales never really take off except for a massive Halo boost that isn't enough to stop the PS3 from taking the lead by fall 2008.  The 360 isn't as badly off as the Dreamcast was but there is a definite 1, 2, 3 heirarchy by 2009.  (Wii is still on top obviously.)

Keep in mind that the above is simply a nightmare scenario I just made up based on "what-if"-type speculation.  I think I've made some fairly well-informed guesses but I do not make this sort of analysis a hobby like some.

Moving on:

2.  "Vista ruined PC gaming"

This one might have been true if not for the huge rebellion and retreat to XP.

3.  PS2 online

Agree, and throw in Gamecube while you're at it.  The Dreamcast had a much more robust online presence so there is NO excuse for that, other than the obvious fact that it was just a token effort with no actual energy behind it (also inexusable).

4.  Home

I disagree.  Even if you're so sure it won't be a success, what makes you convinced it'll make the "worst failure in history" list.

I have the most epic death scene ever in VGChartz Mafia.  Thanks WordsofWisdom!

I haven't read most of the posts so I don't know if it has already been mentioned but the Apple Pippin was definitely a huge failure.

How about Blizzard taking 10 years to release Starcraft 2 and we are now 8 years past D2 (7 past D2:LoD) and no mention of D3, yet we get Warcraft up the wazoo.

I...uh...rented a game and tried to sandpaper it. It played flawlessly. You can scratch the outer surface but you almost have to shave the outside coating off to change how it plays. Tossing it around and leaving it out should have no effect. Finger prints also will have no effect. If something like that or dirt gets on it, you can wipe it off with anything because it won't scratch. It really is awesome.
Wow.  I know they were tougher but that's ridiculous.  I suppose it's the fact that it has a stronger read laser?  (Total guess people)

Nah, I mean maybe the reader is stronger too, but it's that the original Blu-ray had the data closer than DVDs to the ouside of the disc, meaning scratches actually had more of an effect. It had something to do with how the disc was built differently. The data was more vunerable. To counter that, a protective coating as mandated to protect the disc. All Blu-ray discs made now have this default protective coating that's resistance to sand paper, much less scratches. That's really my favorite part of Blu-ray. For the record, HD-DVD discs were built the same as DVDs and scratched just as easily. Anyone who has rented a movie knows how unreliable scratched discs can be...especially back in PS2 days because I think it was only a 2x reader.

How is it a mistake? Really the only game they ever need now is WoW and its eventual sequel. They are making more money on that than any other game makes. Warcraft, Warcraft 2, Diablo, Starcraft, Diablo 2, Warcraft 3, WoW, Starcraft 2, and...Diablo 3, probably. Nothing wrong with that order. I just want a PSN/Live remake of Rock n' Roll Racing...

Because they didn't have WoW for all of those years, they just left the Starcraft universe and the Diablo universe empty and worked on Warcraft 3 and WoW and they seem to just be happy sitting there. They didn't know they would have 10 million subscribers and that WoW would be so popular and us fans of those worlds are left sitting here. We are finally going to get Starcraft 2 and hopefully they might tease us with Diablo 3, though it wouldn't surprise me if they decided not to announce it just to make people wait a bit more.

Nintendos Arrogance that i still have yet to get over between SNES and N64 you all may have forgiven them or were to young BUT I REMEMEBER! (even if i own a wii lol)

UMD is eh...flash drive would of been a better idea with loading games off the memory card.

Sonys Arrogance thinking they can get by with the ps3 just by the brand name alone and charge 599.99

also i don't think Blu-Ray is a failure cause i like HD Movies :(
