Whoa.. full stop here. Wii Fit, is at best, a sorry excuse for lazy people to not go out, buy a pair of good jogging shoes, and actually _start to do_ something for their health. As a gameing tool, it is (presently) a worthless piece of crap. As a fitness tool.. no sorry, same answer. Go and talk to people that _actually are professionals in that sector_ (as I have done). As for Americans, the only things I see are lawsuits coming (looking at some of the more advanced "training routines"). Once again, if you are thinking of improving your health and look for the cheap way-out, go buy that piece of plastic. If you are serious, do something serious. As for games, the board may one day become a tool for novel game control (reminds me somewhat of the Amiga Guru Meditation board - or whatever its name was then). As for now, not worth buying. |
That is just so wrong.
I used to have a gym membership - its now gone due to money & time constraints.
I also walk a solid 5-6km per day (weekdays), for most days.
All that is not enough to keep me "fit".
For me, its just as much about motivation as it is anything else. Time as well. Sometimes the weather is crap (quite often, esp. winter) and its just too hard to get out.
The other thing about WiiFit, is it does something nothing has ever done before. It gives you real, quality feedback on things like push-ups, yoga poses, Center of Mass calculations, and more.
This is something no person could ever do for you. I think WiiFit is just as useful for professionals, as it is for people just trying to get fitter.
...
I expect there will be a lot of posts like this about WiiFit - and I think most of them will come from people who do NOT own the game, and have not used it extensively.
Its a truly amazing piece of software (and hardware) - it really is like the impact of the Wiimote all over again, but this time with a non-gaming crowd.
Just wait till the next batch of games come out that use the balance board - one of the BIG differences between this and the Wiimote, is that its DEAD EASY to code for - the input code is really trivial.

Nocturnal is helping companies get cheaper game ratings in Australia:
