Why should they stop??

it is "printing money" for them...

thats like saying Ninty stop selling DS' & Wii's

quite a few of those 120 million people bought a wii or 360.

but sony needs to make money and it outsells the 360 and ps3 so.

a lot of teachers buy ps2's in my school for some reason, and there like 40

also remeber sony promised a 10 year plan. only 2 more years to go i guess 

Yea no need to stop selling the PS2's, unless your a Wii owner and are afraid of the PS2 getting too many worldwide sells which is just making it harder for the Wii to reach with every PS2 sold? heh, just messing, but having the PS2 out there is a good thing (obviously since its still selling like crazy)

The PS2 is still going for $129 so someone who wants a new console but doesn't have $250-$500 to spend still has a great, low cost alternative. While those who frequent internet gaming forums may not realize it, some people just want to play games or get something for their kids to enjoy.

Except we're not talking about the SNES. There was nothing to call for it in the slightest except fan opinion.

But really, I don't care what people think. Sony won't stop making the PS2, because people are still developing games for it. Should they stop so one of their competitors can get a slightly better Madden game? No, in fact, they should use the PS2 as a device to ruin Wii games.

the ps2 is a suprise trump card for sony, it offsets losses made early on the ps3. if its still going strong id never stop production of ps2

That would be horribly stupid. The mass market won't buy a $400 PS3. They'll keep the PS2 alive till the PS3 drops lower in price enough to attract some casuals. Otherwise killing it off will just send them at the Wii or possibly even the arcade 360.

Heck, if my company was making a device that was making me big money i would continue it for as long as possible, the ps2 makes it possible for the low income market to play games. Said low income market would move to the next cheapest system if the ps2 quit, and that would either be a DS or Wii, and that would be BAD for Sony. If they make money supporting the thing after 15 years i would still keep making them. It just makes business sense.

You got GTA4 now, in few weeks you will get Haze, then MGS4.
Also you will have GRID and SC4. That will be enough for summer.

Then in autumn you will get LBP, Resistance 2, Motorstorm: PR, Disgaea 3, Jakuza 3, Valkyrie Chronicles, Naruto, Siren remake and etc.
After that will come KZ2, GoW3, FFXIII, Team Ico, WKS, GT5, Infamous, 8 days, Wardevil, Afrika, Getaway 3, Heavy Rain, FFXIIIv with Home and possible KH3+SO4.

It will be busy time for gaming on PS3.
It`s really not much time left, less then 4 months, till it will start.
4 months and ps3 at 299$ will be stoped being bashed.
