Forums - Gaming - Absolutely the BEST graphics this gen so far.

@Kyros: Your are joking, right? Because there's no way in hell that COD4 holds a candle on Crysis in the graphics deparment. Even today there's no game that has graphics as good as Crysis on high.

@Slimebeast, oh the panoramic shots looked fine lol, but I want to see the in-game. Panning through a jungle or by a river is fine and all, but when he was running around and shooting it was like wtf? They looked like entirely different games, and that really bothers me :x

I'm afraid I have to somewhat agree. That difference bothers and worries me too. Maybe it's about ones preference of a particular style of graphics? And dislike for another. Because I can't "objectively" argue for example that Oblivion has better graphics than Crysis, yet in my eyes Oblivion is beautiful while Crysis looks.... almost dull and boring. (and the savannah scenes in Far Cry2 look very similar to Crysis)

That 500$ PC barely managed 30 fps average on high settings without AA or basically anything else on and only 1024x768 resolution... Hardly a success at maxing out the game if you ask me, the truth is that no PC I know of or have heard of can max Crysis because it is horribly optimized, like Neverwinter Nights 2.
If you crank up the res to 1600x1050 or 1600x1200, turn on all realtime rendering (shadows, reflection), full HDR and 8xAA on very high settings it'd hang so bad you'd think you were watching a slideshow.
No more of this "500 dollar PC can play Crysis at max settings" bullshit (yeah its not what you said Shio, but many believe that it is possible).
I played Crysis on medium settings with no AA and almost no shadows, but with HDR, and trilinear filtering and barely managed to get decent framerates.
The cost of my PC? Around 3750$ in todays currency, it costs less to build now (obviously) but it'll still set you back way more than 500$ (at least here).
Hell, my GPU alone cost over 500$.

Mummelmann, what's your gear then? GPU & CPU.

Btw, r u still looking forward to AoC?

Far Cry (original pc version) has graphics on a par with the 360 and set the standard of graphics for ages, Far Cry 2 will be mega and set a new standard.

P5B Mother board, 2GB of Corsair TWIN2X @800 MHz, WD Caviar 320 GB (normal 7200rpm, not available anymore!), Sapphire Radeon X1950XTX 512 full retail clocked at roughly 720 MHz (650 stock core clock) and Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 clocked at 2.88 MHz (stock core clock is 2.67, not much overclocked because of BIOS issues with a fan).

And yes; I am very excited for AoC still! I spoke to a Funcom representative a few months back and after that I've been walking on clouds waiting for it! (He mentioned a possible expansion already next year featuring Atlantis and King Kull! Would have to be a timetravel thing if so.)

I dont care grahcis arent that imporant

Far Cry (original PC version) was developed by Crytek, the same people who developed Crysis. Far Cry 2 is being developed by Ubisoft Montreal and I say Crysis still has it beat.

Crysis high = $500 on PC
Crysis on Console = Impossible to port as it was.

Thats the difference.

Its been what? Almost a year between Crysis and Farcry 2 release dates? So the market penetration of 9600gt 8800gt and amd 3870/50 would be pretty good now. Then you've got the old gtx/gtx320/640 cards.

Ahh yea, you've got new cards on the horizon. The 9900gtx and gts - Looking at twice the power of the 8800gtx, the Gx2 and the HD4870 which will all be really fast. They will come out before Farcry also.

You pay for a standard level of obsoleteness on the console, on the pc you choose how obsolete you want to be.

Tease.
