I just got up to chapter 4 of this game in one sitting, oh god how good is the STORY, its better than 95% of the anime I've watched this year and the music is perfect for it. Japanese voice acting is great, not the best but so much better than the English.

The whole Empire vs Alliance thing also remind me superficially of Code Geass.

I am officially in love, this is the best game I've played this year.

Btw, I think it's hilarious how unoriginal the basic premise of the story is, yet how original the details are.

This game is absurdly awesome. Best RPG this gen hands down (any kind of RPG). Despite the HD revolution few games have awed me graphically but this one I just stare at in disbelief. I love being able to go into the character tab and just look at the character models, rotate them, shift them ect. I spent an hour just looking at character models in disbelief that they were polygon models and not just a 2d hand drawing, it's gorgeous.

The gameplay is unlike anything else, it is a truly unique strategy RPG. I've never played anything with a combat system like this game has. It's engaging, it's deep, it fixes alot of problems that other SRPGs have (level grinding new characters for instance) but without sacrificing depth or challenge.

It is a truly fantastic game. Sega screws up alot, but they can still make a world class RPG. I can already tell this is going to be a classic like Skies of Arcadia. MUST BUY.

I think this is due to the fact that there has been virtually no RPG base on VC's setting, the game is an original for its genre but has been done to death in genre such as FPS.

Many aspect of this game, especially some of the character design and the tanks remind me of studio ghibli films, more specifically, the awesome Nausicaa of the Valley of Wind.

On the subject of the game, is the recruitment pool meant to be random? I got both Vyse and Aika from the initial pool straight away (yay!).

Assault troopers are like the one (wo)man killing machine, Rosie and Vyse can sometimes gun down a platoon by themselves without even a heal!

Sega has done a marvel with this game, truly the best thing that came out of them since the Dreamcast days.

Wow. This game is absolutely phenominal. I can't really say anything bad about it. I installed the game and the load times are amazing.

The story is unique but at the same time it's different from anything you've played before. Simply amazing.


Also, I had a peek at next week's ad for Circuit City. Circuit City is selling Valkyria Chronicles for $45! No gift cards, just a flat $15 cut. There is no excuse now NOT to get it!

My favorite class is Scouts as well. I like the possibilities of a mid range rifle with great range.

I find Engineers completely useless.

I get the feeling they'll become more useful later on in the game where the straight 'rush rush kill kill' tactic won't be as useful. Call them late bloomers? As of right now I find using the tank is a waste of command point better spend elsewhere, I am thinking that later on in the game, as the tank become a more integral part of your battle strategy so too would the engineer (i think).

@outlaw:  I installed the game when I first put it in. It was when deciding whether I should install or not that it hit me just how awesome optional installs are. I can install the game, then delete the install immediately when I'm finished playing, without having to worry about being forced to reinstall the game should I ever go back to it (whether to play it again, or just show something to a friend).

Really? The scouts are my least favorite. I'm halfway in chapter 7, and I rate them like this (greatest to least):

- snipers

- lancers

- engineers

- shocktroopers

- scouts
