Forums - Nintendo - Can I mess up my DS if I . . .

push the DS cartridge in while the DS is on?  I no that this is something simple, but I was not sure if this could cause a problem or not.  It came up tonight when I went to download a demo from the Nintendo Channel and had Prof Layton in the DS.  I have the settings so that the game starts when I turn on the DS, so I had to eject the cart to get to the download section.  Then because I did not want to take Prof Layton out, I just pushed it in during the download.  Now, I think that I have done this before and like the last time, nothing happened.  I just was wandering if this could cause a problem with my DS or not.

nope, worst thing that can happen is that it may not read it until you turn it off and on.

There's a way to force start your DS to the main menu instead of auto-loading the game.

I forget what it is though. It should be in the DS manual or easy to find online.

You hold in a bunch of buttons while you turn it on.

The worst that will happen (assuming sane values of pushing it in, of course) is that the DS will turn off. That's what it does if its reading from the cart and the game is ejected. Just don't let it happen when you're, say, saving a game.

Please, PLEASE do NOT feed the trolls.

Also, you can just take the game out, turn the system on, and change it in the settings.

But yeah, all it should do is most likely make the game crash, forcing you to restart the system.

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?
