the patch was only 18mbs meaning that it was one small file that was causing the problem. Amazing what one small file can do to a massive game.

After reading the Playstation forum, it would appear that it does not fix (at least not all) freezing issues.

I think I'll unplug my Ethernet cord before trying to play the game, since some people have reported freezing that did not exist before downloading the update.

I guess I'm lucky. I left all of the options on and play logged into the PSN without any problems. I've also been playing online flawlessly since day one. I also have a launch 60 gig. I feel bad for anyone with this problem though :( someone on my buddy list says that the game is completely un-playable on his 60 gig. I hope this fixes his problems :)

they fixed it a lot quicker than i expected.

I believe they just stoped the game constanly asking the gamespy servers and PSN if it was online or not ...

18mb... did it. changed absolutely nothing. Not that it's a bad thing.

the game still runs smooth as hell, I spent first 4 hours just driving around doing dumb stuff. I am afraid that once I get into missions, I won't be able to put the controller down. :(

I haven't downloading it yet (capped sucks, Aus internet Sucks. Ah well, best country in the world can't be all perfect :) ), hope it fixes the freezing issues (happened twice on my 40gb).
