I hit my 3,000 day. 3,060 to be exact. Looks like I'm finally starting to get the hang of it. I hope to better that this week.
We celebrated the summer solstice 2 nights ago. The sun was out till around 10:30, which is an hour later than we normally go to sleep. But that night we partied hard till 11:30! which is a lot when you consider we get up at 5 AM to plant trees for 10 hours straight. It's actually a lot of fun celebrating an actual global event as opposed to some silly made up holiday. It's the kind of thing I'd like to push for more in the normal world.
Oh yeah, the day before I got very high and read Ou Est Charlie?. So take that Ministaff! Ou Est Charlie? Ou N'est Pas Charlie? That's the real question. Guy goes everywhere.

I planted 4 day lilies 2 hostas and a bunch of petunias the other day.

I can't do 3000 of anything in one day, except blink.
So you plant 10hours * 60 mins is 600 minutes divided by 3000 trees. So you plant 5 trees per minute?
That's an impressive tree:stof ratio you have going there. My measly 2 trees in my lifetime is looking weedy.
I blame Canada! Way too much open space, here in the UK you would be lucky to find a space big enough for more than 1 stof-days worth of trees.

Unopened beer cans are usually safe, but for some reason the bear took both boxes out of the hole I dug (keeps them so cold) and crushed a few of them. It's annoying because now I have to find a way to bear proof my fridge. A fridge which is about 3 inches from my tent. As for the chasing. That's just sort of what you have to do. For a couple days there were about 3 bears that kept coming in to camp. So we'd just chase them away. It's pretty funny when you're in your sleeping bag, you hear someone shout BEAR!!! and you just groan and roll over. It turns out black bears are pretty much just big raccoons. |

Well it looks like tree planting isn't quite done with me yet. I just signed on for a July contract in Alberta. I'll have about 5 days of rest before flying out there and doing it all over again.
Fuck I love planting trees.
