The character runs along a set path and the player presses buttons/aims guns at specific moments for jumping, balancing, etc.

Wouldn't they call it a rail shooter instead of an adventure title then. And what in this video makes you assume that the runner is on a set path? I guess I just don't see what makes you think this is on rails.

edit: here's some stuff showing it's not on rails from IGN's preview of the game.

"There's a giant city, you can go anywhere, leaping your way up and across the face of buildings, scaffolds, and generally anywhere that you can see. The twist? It's all delivered through one of the most active first-person displays that we've ever seen."

fighting against the idea that it's on rails because it would totally kill my hope for the game.

I'll have three scoops.

An innovative first person game with lots of colors and really pretty no less, yes please!

Thanks to Blacksaber for the sig!

Yeah, this game looks pretty phenomenal. Beautiful artistic direction and very unique gameplay. Making this a first-person viewpoint was a very wise decision. The combat could be pretty interesting too.

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. Thompson

I really like it.

I love that it's first person, it wouldn't work otherwise...you need that sense of height and speed.

Dunno about the combat, I hope they make everything work together well...it would suck to be gliding along the rooftops and then get stuck with a crappy combat system.

Definitely looks cool though. Here's a GT vid (SD or HD)

LEFT4DEAD411.COM
Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

I literally get chills every time I watch this video. ( I just keep watching it over and over)
Absolutely amazing.
I am wow'ed

since it is from EA, it goes without saying that this game will be multiplatform... right?
