Forums - Nintendo - Who thought Mario Kart Wii was hard?

Because I didn't.

All those reviewers who gave low scores really must suck at the game. I had no problem with the 150cc at all. Yeah I didn't win everytime, but if I played my best and tried hard I can win everytime. There is some luck involved obviously, but ...

It is hard, but that's part of the fun. A great game takes more then a week to master.

I had trouble getting some stars with the 150cc, was beginning to get frustrated, just left it for another day and completed it then. Now only need to unlock the second Mii - more Time Trials!

i think the hardness comes from the item draw and when you get hit by that fateful blue shell.. i can easily get to first (get knocked back to 8th, then go back up to 1st) but its the problem of keeping it right up until the end of the race.. other than that, so i think i've found difficulty in adjusting to the luck factor.. so yeh.. its hard for me :P

Yeah, the game is a little harder than I remember previous ones but it's not impossible. I got gold in 150cc special cup on Wednesday after a few tries and I don't even consider myself great at the game.

I think a lot of people get frustrated at the constant balance for power and a lot of people just have this mentality that you should immediately go for first without any plan and not realizing you get mauled when you're in first place. Personally, I like to stay in 2nd or 3rd as much as possible until the end of the 3rd lap.

having not played a MK since the SNES and GBA ones (and console games for most of 2 years), I did find it hard though the learning curve is pretty quick.
I have a harder time with the wheel though... I can't drive straight with it.

OoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoO

the problem is that it was to much of luck not difficulty, devil may cry 3 was one of the hardest games if played it got pretty good reviews. the original mega man games are the hardest games in history, but its early years are legendary

@twestern shouldn't that be the mentality of racers to go as fast as u can and get ahead of everybody else not stay in second or third thats boring

@dante

Sometimes racers stay in second to save fuel or energy. Now, you don't have to take that into consideration in MKWii, but there are other reasons to stay behind the 1st placer.

Anyways, If you are fast enough you can pull far enough ahead that the blue shells only knock you back far enough to be near the second placer. Other items either affect everyone, or can be blocked/minimized.

I had a tough time with this game on 150 (still finishing it, cause I've been working on Okami instead), but I also had a tough time with MK:DD on 150 until I got used to it. Once you play a couple weeks, it gets to be 150cc is the only way to race.

If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy

This is my first Mario Kart game since SNES (where I only played multi-player) and I NEVER buy racing games.

To me, this has been hard.

I breezed through 50cc with B or better ratings, getting gold in 1st or 2nd try. Once I unlocked the better karts, I got all stars.

I have had a much harder time getting all golds in 100cc. I still have the special cup to go. I just unlocked a better bike last night and should get the last gold tonight. Then I will begin my star quest. But, the difference on the AI is like night and day between 50 and 100cc. They are not incredibly faster, just much more aggressive.

I have not even tried 150cc yet.

However, I agree that the poor reviews due to the aggressiveness of the AI is just stupid. That is a major part of the game and you have to be good at defending yourself and sometimes just have a little luck. Frustrating at times, yes, makes the game suck, no. The game is fantastic.

It's just a feature of the game, isn't it?

You either go far enough infront so that a blue shell won't effect your race position (and hope there isn't more than 1 in close succession!) or you stay will the pack and take your chances that way.
