TRUE!
Consoles Sales year to Date 2008:
PS3 + X360 = 5,419,322
Wii = 5,482,887
Wii shipments will increase from 1.8 million per month to 2.4 million per month starting July. The Wii has a very good chance of gaining 50% of the market at some point though it may not keep it.

I THINK IT WILL BE SOME TIME BETWEEN DECEMBER 2008 AND APRIL 2009.
After all the Wii seems likely to have about 43 million sold by the end of December (unless production is increased even more)
And I now expect about 24 million for the 360 and 20 for the PS3, which is cutting it fine.

By the end of the generation it will have. But probably not by the end of the year. It will be down to poor 360 sales rather than anything to do with the PS3.
The Wii will not double PS3 sales, lifetime.

its amazing how people say it will never reach 50%+ cause they hate it..
face the fact! I hated ps2 ! but i always knew it sold the most
You can keep speculating or do the maths and realize it's just not going to happen in 2008....
2.4 millions units produced/month, even if it started in June would mean 15 millions more Wii out this year.
So at best the Wii will be around 42 millions or so by the end of the year.
That means the Xbox360 + PS3 have to sell more than12 millions units before December 2008. Hardly a difficult task at the current pace...

Agreed it probably won't happen this year but within a year from now is highly likely. To be conservative, I'm projecting mid 2009.

I can't believe some people still believe the Wii isn't going to go 60-70% by the end of the gen. -_-
It's amazing enough that people were calling the Wii a fad that'll blow over mere months earlier, and a few weeks ago some of our members though Japan would be the only market interested in Wii Fit, but I'm seriously starting to lose hope in humanity here. The writing is on the wall, people. Accept it and move on.
The Wii will have an over 50% market share by the end of 2008.
