Forums - Sales - How to sell game on Wii? A good name like Game Party - 800,000 units Sold!

The game is only $19. Great for the impulse shopper.

Can't say it's for me, but... at $20 I will not complain.

You have to think about it if you are going to spend $60 for a PS360 title.

Would you feel better if it only sold 1/3rd as much but cost triple the price?

Everyone is overlooking the MAJOR FACTOR in these sales, and that is...

TV ADS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hell, just the other Saturday morning I saw a Carnival Games commercial.

From what I hear, Game Party got a lot of advertisement in Europe, especially the UK.
That is why it is always in the top 10, ALL FORMATS(I think).

I haven't seen one yet (I live in the UK). Shame really, I would like to see how they make a game that's getting 2x/100 look good.

On a side note we are being bombarded with adverts for Wii Fit and the DS (as always).

Count yourself lucky then.  The Game Party advert is the most annoying thing I have ever seen on TV.

Vote the Mayor for Mayor!

This type of game could be good (if well made, obviously by Midway its NOT) for casual gamers, and at $20 it would easily sell.

Though they are not for me, I can see playing Skeeball and darts and shuffleboard would have appeal for people looking for party games, and especially at the price they are asking. Plus Ihaven't (won't be) playing it, but I can imagine with Midway, the most important aspect in this type of casual game, the controls, would be way off the mark.

A worse side of this arguement is companies gouging prices because a game is on the Wii. Geometry Wars is an amazing game, but not for $40. On the 360 it's $10 if you downlaod it from LIVE. The Wii version has much more content, but no matter, it's a $20 game max.

And another amazing game "Pinball's Greatest Hits : The Willaims Collection" is $14.99 on the PS2, but $29.99 on the Wii. It's WORTH $29.99, but why do Wii owners have to pay double to use a better control configuration for something that is obviously a multi platform release?

Another example, a basic multi-platform puzzle release like Luxor: Pharaoh's Challenge (based off a flash game!) is $19.99 on the PS2, but $39.99 on the Wii. WTF?

And they wonder why these casual games don't sell. $40 for LUXOR? Gimme a break.

BAM! There it is!

Detn8 Games/Twelve Interactive Sign Deal for Party Crashers

Glenview, Illinois - May 6, 2008 - U.S. game publisher Detn8 Games Ltd. and Italian game developer Twelve Interactive have announced a development deal to create Party Crashers™, an original title for the Wii™ home video game system.

Set for release in April, 2009, Party Crashers is composed of 25 party games in one product, including a host of action games along with puzzle games, brain teasers, and a music-based game. Utilizing the crash-dummy characters from Twelve Interactive’s platform game CID – The Dummy, Party Crashers includes individual game titles such as Pie in the Face, Chinese Plates, Dummy Cannonball, Pizza Delivery, Treasure Island, and Dummy Dance. Some of the games will be “unlockable” by performing well in other games.

While a single player can enjoy the game, Party Crashers naturally lends itself to family/friend, multiplayer fun, taking full advantage of the motion features of the Wii Remote. The game is being designed specifically for the Wii.

“Party Crashers will be great for group play by families and friends,” says Giuseppe Crugliano, Managing Director of Twelve Interactive. “We’ll keep the game mechanics simple and easy to pick up without diminishing the challenge and replay value or compromising the feeling of reward for doing well.” Party Crashers will be available at major retailers.

Detn8 Games is located in the sweet-home Chicago suburb of Glenview, IL. Twelve Interactive is located in the picturesque resort town of Crotone, Italy.

Em...Will this sell? Party Crashers?

Poor PS3 Sales Means Smaller Losses

Geometry Wars is $5 on XBL.  Maybe the game will come to WiiWare for $5 or so.

With the 360 version, can you download it to play on your DS, etc...

It is better than the xbox version, but... I agree $19, maybe $29 at most would be a better price.

This game (Game Party) sold so well that Gamestop moves it for $25 -- $5 more than MSRP.

The basketball hoops contest is fun -- and can make you pull a muscle -- though there is a maximum score you can reach. Darts is good. The curling like addicting.

The air hockey game is so-so. And cup-pong is really tough.

But for $20 -- it is well worth it. It got a lot of playing by me when I first bought it.

I have seen Game Party ads, they are meh but it is still advertising (ie better than the lack of Z&W ads)

It helps that the game (as well as Carnival Games) is only £20 as well, people see a game on TV that they then see in the shops for £20, or people don't see a game on tv and therfore don't even notice it in the shops but £40+ is too much anyway.

There is a good reason these games are selling.

There are other games that I would rather see get sales like these, but I'm not threatened by a poor game getting good sales. I'm kind of jaded after seeing the 50 Cent game do gangbusters on the PS2.
