GTA IV sales are amazing and the game is going to show some of the strongest legs ever. First week 4.5-5M easy. Lifetime 9-10 million. I expect GTA IV to outsell COD4 this year and as PS2 owners start upgrading their consoles we can expect a huge boost for HD consoles. Nintendo were wise to unleash their 1-2 punch of Mario Kart and Wii Fit.

Take Two 's in house teams are developing the following games
Bioshock 2 (PC,PS3,360),
Civilization Revolution (PS3,360,NDS),
Midnight Club (PS3,360),
Max Payne 3 (PC,PS3,360),
Red Dead Revolver (PC,PS3,360),
Unannounced 2K Boston (possibly X-com) title (multiplatform),
Mafia 2 (PC,PS3,360),
Enemy In Sight (PC,PS3,360),
Don King Presents : Prizefighter (multiplatform),
NHL (PS2,PS3,360),
MLB (PS2,PS3,360),
College Hoops,
Top Spin 3 (multiplatform),
Prey 2 (PC,PS3,360),
L.A Noire (PS3, ???)

Apart from these Take 2 also publish games for various developers. Starbreeze, Bethesda, etc ..
Recently Sega has taken the mantle of developing crap movie2game franchises.

Take 2 is not a one trick donkey. Considering the 15 odd studios they own, the exclusive MLB license, 30 odd gaming franchises etc .. 2 Billion is a pittance.

T2 cant rely on only one AAA game to get them out of their financial woes no matter how big

They have no financial woes. The only problem they have is a predatory EA on their doorsteps trying to buy them. Besides their one AAA game has more sales than most publishers alltogether. So lets wait a bit.

The idea GTA IV is somehow flopping is laughable, but that doesn't mean that Take Two doesn't have financial woes.

http://biz.yahoo.com/bw/080311/20080311006456.html

Net revenue for the first quarter was $240.4 million, compared to $277.3 million for the same quarter of fiscal 2007, which benefited from more new game releases in last years holiday season. First quarter sales were led by BioShock, Carnival Games, NBA 2K8, Grand Theft Auto catalog titles, and the release of Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories in Japan. Distribution revenue rose year over year, fueled by the strength of next generation software and hardware sales, including robust demand for Wii products.

Net loss for the first quarter was $38.0 million or $0.52 per share, compared to a net loss of $21.5 million or $0.30 per share in the first quarter of fiscal 2007.

This isn't an isolated quarter. Take Two has been bleeding money for quite some time now, despite big hits like Bioshock and Carnival Games. GTA is what keeps them alive, and some people say this may be the last GTA game that Rockstar lets Take Two publish.

I am also betting that they are waiting for outside sources. Plus, comparing MS' ability to get sell through rates from retailers to that of T2 is probably a bit biases. T2 has no where near the pull with retailers that MS does.

I bet once vgc and other sites start to mention numbers they will put out a press release.

I think they are silent because they await the numbers from VGC before they make a statement.

This game will sell good no mutter how you spin it, the only ones that might get dissapointed are the most rabid fans that expect this game to sell to everyone ever owning a console.

Damn, not one Wii game up there (DS is but w/e). No Table Tennis 2? Anyone?

Leatherhat on July 6th, 2012 3pm. Vita sales:"3 mil for COD 2 mil for AC. Maybe more. "  thehusbo on July 6th, 2012 5pm. Vita sales:"5 mil for COD 2.2 mil for AC."

maybe their new policy is humbleness

Don Kings : Prizefighter is coming for Wii. Has not been anounced for the PS3 yet, but I expect a PS3 version to be announced once GTA IV figures of E.U and Others are out.

NHL, NBA and Collge Hoops should cross over to the Wii thx to the PS2 ports.

Top Spin 3 is coming out for Wii confirmed.

None of the  core franchises are coming out for the Wii which is disappointing. Shocked Carnival Games 2 has not been announced yet.

Isn't this like sitting down to a fancy dinner, taking a single bite of a roll with butter on it and saying "Is this meal really living up to expectations?"

GTA IV is going to be one very, very long meal. With many servings. Let's wait till Dessert before we judge how much was eaten.

Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!

Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.

You do understand that there is only one GTA game per 3 years or so, right? This year will be great, but then what? That money will be gone, a lot of it as dividend to the investors and the other part into a new GTA and a few minor franchises.

Take Two absolutely deserves to be taken over by leaning on a single franchise. It's not predatory, it's business.

OT: 6 million first week is incredible, so I don't think Take Two has to worry about sales of GTA4.
