I want usb hdd support just becuase I have a 120 , and 160 gig usb hdd. I only have 2 gbs of sd.

As most others have said, Nintendo needs to open up the SD card and create a (mostly) seamless link between the internal and external memory. (It can't be completely seamless since the user has the ability to remove the card and modify the data without the Wii.) If there's a concern regarding the number of 'channels' on the screen (since each VC game gets it's own), Nintendo should offer a way to collapse VCGs into a single one. This will also help reduce the clutter lots of downloaded games can create.

I think SD cards would be a good solution but the pay to play feature could suggest that a Hard drive is not out of the question. Maybe I reading to much into that feature. However, Nintendo is going to sell the Wii in Korea where MMOs are king.

More importantly though, Nintendo needs a DRM solution to make sure that the SD cards or the USB Hard Drive can not be easily exploited by pirates. Some one mentioned this already. I just wanted to second the motion.

Another nice thing with SD cards is they are relatively cheap, so if you need to release a game which requires installation, you can bundle the game with a 512 or 1gb SD card so there would be no need for additional purchase.

Even better, you could release the whole game on the SD card :)

I think a good middle ground would be to open up the SD card so you can access data directly from the SD card, but to also implement USB harddrive or flash drive accessibility just for straight storage, like the SD card currently is used for.
