Forums - Sales - Sony Financial Statement - has it been released?

I've been searching the VGC Forums and News articles. I know what Nintendo and MS did, as far as Hardware shipments and such, but I cannot find anything for Sony. Can someone re-cap what Sony did for their shipments and such?

I saw on Gamasutra.com that they had a profit in their gaming division - first in a year (I believe), but couldn't find any of their sales info per-platform, and the like.

Any help would be appreciated.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

May 14.

Yep, Sony postponed its presentation.

Usually that's a bad sign though.

Oh they actually postponed it? I was under the impression that it was just scheduled that late due to the FY end and the size of their company....pushing it back is a bit different.

I can tell you that the company I work for is a lot bigger than Sony, but releasing the figures over a month later than FY end is not common and has nothing to do with the size of the company.
It's not that they manually have to count everything. It's a matter of pressing the button to close out the FY.

Sony delays earnings report due Sarbanes-Oxley...

8 March 2007

Electronics giant Sony has announced that it is to delay its full-year earnings report by approximately three weeks.

The company had been due to release the figures by the end of April, but has pushed the release date back to May 16th.

Tougher accounting rules since the Sarbanes-Oxley Act came into force are the cause of the delay, Sony claims.

Sony spokesperson Mami Imada said: "We have a lot more paperwork to do in order to deal with the rules."

As well as regulating US companies, Sarbanes-Oxley is also relevant to foreign companies which are listed in the US.

Another Japanese electronics company, Pioneer, has cited the same reason for the delay of its earnings release.

US congress introduced Sarbanes-Oxley in the wake of the WorldCom and Enron fiascos, however some have said that the increased bureaucracy involved is simply driving business across the Atlantic.

>>> Here it is. Sounds like a good reason.

Ahh... so no bad sign then.

No they didn't.   They still posted over a $1.2 billion loss.  The difference is they lost almost a billion less than last FY.

Last FY -  $2.24 billion loss

This FY -  $2.24 billion loss - $956 million = $1.284 billion loss.
