Nintendo "Pokemon" U.S. presales top half a million

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Nintendo Co. Ltd. (7974.OS: Quote, Profile, Research on Tuesday said it expects upcoming video games "Pokemon Diamond" and "Pokemon Pearl" for its hand-held DS player to be among the top-selling U.S. games of 2007, based on presales of more than 533,000.

I don't think it was a mistake.

They released the Beta primarily for two reasons:

i) Give their network code/servers a decent thrashing

ii) Gather feedback from gamers which can be incorporated into the final game

...

The final, full release will be significantly better - in every respect (esp. graphics). The single-player mission should be awesome, with all the time they have had to polish and work on it - and this will sell most people over.

The beta may have lost a few sales, but this should be countered by the improved quality of the final product.

Yeah I agree that it may create some doubt but there is so long between beta and the release for them to rehype it. I'm sure it will be firmly the 2nd best selling game of 07. The top 3 in oder being

Pokemon

Halo 3

SSBB

Oh and, Mrstickball the reason Halo 3 is the top of the hype meeter is BECAUSE the beta is running.  After it closes I wouldn't be surprised at all to see it fall behind the SSBB hype.

Which part? The order of games or the hype meter drop?

When is gt5 coming out? that game might not sell too many systems (or could sell a lot, it is just so unknown) but it will sell a ton. i can see it easily breaking top 5. also gt4? multiplatform gt4 will boost the sales maybe 10-20% but that is a ton for gta. also dont count uncharted out (although i wouldnt put it super high, but it could be a huge hit) or killzone 2. we just have no idea how those games will sell. for the year how is pokemon doing so far? and i dont think ssbb is going to get top 3. love the ssb, could be my biggest game of the year and im not expecting to get a wii, but it has tons of legs and wont sell as high this year as most expect.

GoW sh!ts on Halo. Bungie needs to kidnap cliff-b so they can make a worthy game to compete against GoW.
