Forums - Gaming - Obama criticizes parents instead of GTA? *faints*

http://kotaku.com/386128/obama--name-checks-gta-says-video-games-are-raising-our-children

It seems like someone can comprehend the idea that parents are the ones that have to stop their kids from playing these games.  And anyone who uses the word "goo-gobs" is fine with me.  He says the game is adult but puts the heat on parents instead of the game.  Cool.

Wow. Another great reason to vote for him over Clinton (or McCain for that matter). Placing the blame on video games (or movies or whatever) will never solve the problem if we don't address the issue that is poor parenting.

Here's a youtube link to the comment (I can't embed).

about time someone realized this.

b/t this and his stance on teh gas tax he has my vote

I am officially in love with Obama, he has now convinced me that he's the right man to the take helm simply based on that little tidbit of insight.
An insight, frankly, that more politicians (and critics of all kinds of entertainment products) need to gain, now!
Rap, videogames and other pasttimes is not the culprit, but this is lost on most (especially parents). I know some real terrible brats that never heard a sentence by 50 cent or played a minute of videogames, but they share a common denominator with other; they have parents...

Just a question about the rating system in the US, are retailers prohibited from selling mature games to people under 17?

Finally, someone does their research.

Leatherhat on July 6th, 2012 3pm. Vita sales:"3 mil for COD 2 mil for AC. Maybe more. "  thehusbo on July 6th, 2012 5pm. Vita sales:"5 mil for COD 2.2 mil for AC."

I don't think so , but most stores make you have an adult, some don't really care. I don't think their is a law against it though.

This is no reason to fall in love with a man who is friendly with terrorists... Sheesh its a cult of personality...

edit: but this is a good thing that he understands. It is the parents who need to take responsibility... but we are talking about the Baby Boomer Generation here... the most selfish generation America has ever seen.

Well, he does have a point, but many kids are mature enough to get this game. Most people in my year at school will get the game at some point, though most are waiting until after the major exams coming in the next few weeks (I am not) because they appriechiate that these exams do come before GTA
