Forums - Sales - So Nintendo can only ship/sold Wiis 300, 000-400, 000 a week at a time?

I just seen a pattern here, unless vgchartz is undertracking the constant sales of Wii are between 300,000-400,000 a week I just surprised that the Wii in america only have under 100, 000 units right now even with mario kart on sale the next day.

end of core gaming days prediction:

E3 2006-The beginning of the end. Wii introduced

E3 2008- Armageddon. Wii motion plus introduced. Wii Music. Reggie says Animal crossing was a core game. Massive disappointment. many Wii core gamers selling their Wii.

E3 2010- Tape runs out

seems logical when you can only produce 1.8 mil (up to 2.05(something) mil now), need to stockpile for holidays and releases in other territories..

The units get shipped every 2 weeks.  That's why the US numbers fluctuate so much week to week.

The rEVOLution is not being televised

Next week might see record breaking Wii sales (outside the holiday period) with Golden Week in Japan, Europe still riding high on the recent release of Mario Kart and Wii Fit and the US seeing massive shipments to support MK Wiis launch. In case you want some proof about the US thing, Toys R Us had this add (and I understand many other retailers had Wiis available as well) claiming to have More Wiis than ever:

Maybe Bodhesatva can confirm this to be true without getting in trouble with his employer.

You should know that for something like Mario Kart, retailers themselves (rather than Nintendo) will be holding back stock to sell in bulk on the MK Wii release, so the Sunday which is the day after the last posted week will be huge.

400k units a week is NOT a small amount. Even ignoring holidays, that is a solid 20m units a year.

Think about the logistics of manufacturing & shipping that many units, regularly, around the world. Its actually pretty mind-boggling.

400k week --> 55k / day, or 2,500 Wii units produced every hour (regularly, over an entire year). 42 units a minute, or pretty close to 1 every second.

Tick, tick, tick...
(in the time its taken you to read this post, another 10-20 Wii units have been "born"...)

The Toys R Us closest to me had 68, which is not a record amount for that location.

BAM! There it is!

The Regency location was loaded. I don't know how many but it was a lot.

Personally, I believe that Nintendo does allocate their production and distribution at varying rates to each region depending on what games are going to be released; and I also think that retailers end up "holding back" some of their shipments before the release of big games in order to ensure that they can advertize that they have hardware to sell with the release of the game.

Not only that, but putting it in context with the competition, 400k is greater than the PS3 and 360's weekly sales combined, which have trended at about 350k per week this year according to the charts.
