Forums - Gaming - REALLY wanna post this topic, is ninjabreadman the new ET from Atari 2600?

Ok, Yushire, I'm going to reply to your questions but I need to actually understand them.

@viper-----> have you re-played all those games again?

I played Pole Position not long ago.  Still a fun game.  Kinda like Super Mario Bros on the NES is still fun, and Street Fighter II on the SNES is still fun, and Zelda: Majora's Mask on N64 is still fun.   Take a look at a list of the top selling Virtual Console downloads and you'll notice that time doesn't play much of a role in what is quality fun.

OK, do you mean that ET have hundreds of million of dollars to make and manufactured because for a game to make the industry crash, the company will be on bankruptcy.

I already told you that Atari took a $536 million loss in 1983 which caused the company to be sold off into pieces.  With inflation, that's a $1.15 billion dollar loss.

How many userbase does Atari 2600 before have anyway?

Approximately 30 million.

@viper1----->Ok, "1.15 billion dollars" just to create that game and pole position have better graphics than that game?(I've played the rom BTW)

WHAT... ... ... THE... ... ... F**K... ... ...!

If is just another ordinary cost game I could say its not that bad but once you said the production cost my mind just spin. And its not a good game anyway, I could even compared it to space invaders and centipede in terms of graphics and gameplay. I mean, what the hell is Atari thinking on that time anyway?!!

OK, I change my mind, this game was the worst game ever made in existence! ITS BAD, ITS FRUSTRASTING, AND THE GRAPHICS SUCKS can compared to atari 2600 centipede and space invaders and it costs 1.15 billion dollars. No wonder theres a video game crash....

end of core gaming days prediction:

E3 2006-The beginning of the end. Wii introduced

E3 2008- Armageddon. Wii motion plus introduced. Wii Music. Reggie says Animal crossing was a core game. Massive disappointment. many Wii core gamers selling their Wii.

erm.. the 1.15billion dollar loss was due to them making millions and millions of copies, and only very few bought it

^ Whatever, the production, the PR, and development cost was all part of making a game. I mean, GTA IV didnt have 100 million cost by development cost do you? I even seen a whole building covered with GTA IV ads(seen it in kotaku) but that cost 100 million dollars, this is 1.15 billion dollars.

What waste of money does Atari done to promote this shi**y game?

It cost a lot more money back then to manufacture 5 million Atari cartridges than it does to manufacture 5 million game discs today, the rights to the E.T. license was also huge, and finally the $536 million figure included some hardware losses as well since they to slash the 2600 price many time to keep competitive (they were many different consoles out back then [at least a dozen], not just 3 like we have now).

Anyone here ever play Street Fighter The Movie for Sega Saturn?

Love the product, not the company. They love your money, not you.
