Forums - Nintendo - Will Shenmue be revived by SEGA? On the Wii?...

...Or any platform? Anyway, I never played Shenmue but many people say that its a great game, but its bad that its the last days of Dreamcast when Shenmue was released. So will there be a resurrection of the series or will it be forgotten just like Space Station 9?

end of core gaming days prediction:

E3 2006-The beginning of the end. Wii introduced

E3 2008- Armageddon. Wii motion plus introduced. Wii Music. Reggie says Animal crossing was a core game. Massive disappointment. many Wii core gamers selling their Wii.

For the series to return sega must first start raking in big profits because its a very risky project that can lead to massive money losses if it flops again, and tanks to sammys pachinko divisions and the arcades in Japan they are a long way from that at the moment

I think shenmue 3 will appear some day (it was planned for the xbox but was canned due to poor sales of shenmue 2 and the console being a flop in Japan ) but not in the coming years if it happens it will be at the end of this generation or at the end of the next

If it will be revived it will be on the 360. Along with phantasy star etc...

It would be awesome on the Wii. Using the Wii-mote with this game, would be in similar context of how Godfather: Blackhand Edition was on the Wii.

That game was f*cking amazing and using the Wii-mote was a smooth process.

Now if only Sega would just find so ways to either make a port or make a sequel I would definitely buy it.

But this is how I would rate in order on which system I would like to see the next Shenmue on:

Wii --->X360 --->PS3

I say Wii because of the controls and X360 because of the achievements (Yes I am a achievement whore...lol)

After Shenmue 2 and it's lack of sales, I'm not so sure that this will ever be released. I'd like to see it, though.

Sadly I never even seen it since I only known it when it seen the last of its day :(

Even with the dreamcast I've seen it in a tv program that the graphics was great even at its time. You can even compare it even with new games today.

I hope so. I didn't liked the 1st part very much but the 2d was very good. I hope they could finish the storyline on this generation.

I don't see it happening. It would be good though.

I think a new shenmue will come out, but not the third. First I think they'll make a remake but not on the nintendo wii, but on the playstation 3 I think!

I think it would depend how portable it would be. The wii would make the most sense for a remake, but it is fairly different hardware than the dreamcast. If they could automate or emulate much of the content it may do rather well on the wii, and should fit on one disc unlike the original. The 360 doesn't have the sales in Japan to even consider, and people would complain about the graphics on the PS3 without a major upgrade, which would be too risky cost wise.
