A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

It's harder to tell on the internet, but I was born without the ability to express emotion. My friends always have a hard time telling if I'm joking or not, and that kind of translates onto the internet, where I can't tell if my jokes are noticeable enough to not need the [/sarcasm]. Course, most jokes are more difficult to pick up on, so I should probably just do it to make sure.

Easy. It's being hailed as such a great game because it is just that. If you haven't played GTA4, you really honestly are missing out. It's a masterpiece and I have only played about 7 hours of it so far. GTA4 deserves all of the 10's it's getting, it's just that good.

the only thing thats fishy is the gamespot change, which i read about on the day that very initial score went up.. otherwise i think the game is good enough to be getting 10/10 in some peoples eyes.. i know i'll be picking it up on pc

I've played all nintendo's Wii games this gen and loved them all (apart from the 2nd half of Super Paper Mario and Wario World) and own GTa4 and gotta say it is worth very high 9's / 10 as it's just incredible.

Well you know these experts that never played the game have to be right. It's unfathomable for a game to be praised and get great scores across the board and not be from Nintendo. I'm waiting for Miyamoto to say"I could've made GTA!"

As it appears interest in this thread is waning, I just want to thank everyone for participating in the discussion.

As I said, it GTA IV is a great game -- one I might even get if/when I get a PS3/X360 -- even though I don't like being the bad guy. It appears to be that good.

But it does not appear to be perfect -- and that's why I brought it up for discussion. I don't truly feel there is a conspiracy to give the game perfect scores because its not Nintendo. But it is interesting to observe that reviewers have biases and what they like scores higher than what they don't understand.

They wanna make it into the best to help Take 2 or EA for the value of the game, plus you have Sony and M$ all giving money etc to make this game out there so yeah thats why plus it is a fun game just like Halo its a great game but it isn't perfect far from and it isn't anything revolutionary it is the IV after all.
