you totally missed his argument 15 miles ago.

He is meaning that graphics can play just as important of a role in the game as the gameplay. There needs to be a balance. If the gameplay isnt there it suck, if the graphics arent to the expected level of the system or gametype the game is running it sucks. There are lower-graphic games that are so great in gameplay it doesnt matter if the graphics are on par with games like UT3 or Crysis.

Graphics can add immersion to games while making the player feel like they are the character just as well as the story and gameplay.

wait, is that someone who understands that graphics are more than just technical?  to explain let me take shadow of the collossus.  it is a terribly boring game.  i don't understand why anyone would play it for fun.  BUT, it is a fantastic experiance.  the solitude, the colors, the atmosphere, the monsters, the minimalistic story.  it all comes together beautifully.

One of the reasons is that the art is unique. it doesn't try to have the most polygons, but it has enough.  it doesn't go out of its way to use all ten trillion colors of a tv, it uses as many as is needed.  the graphics reinforce everything about the game.  i honestly dont know if it could be the same game with updated graphics.  it would change everything.

I agree wholeheartedly with the entire list.

I completely agree with the entire list. Especially with #7 no split screen, #5 repetition, and #2 I'm getting tired of updating games every time I play.

I agree with the whole list but I wanted to talk about rule #1 ... I think that the statement "Graphics don't matter" could be stated more accurately as "What is important about graphics today is very different than what was important 10 years ago." In my opinion, the artistic direction and talent in the creation of graphical assets is far more important than the technology that is used to render these graphics

I agree with every word in the entire article. Genius.
