Forums - Gaming - Why GTA4 blows OoT our of the water.

GTA IV would appeal to more people due to it being an action/shooter game and on two platforms (PS3/360). OoT is a RPG on a Nintendo platform.

:O then you played a different game with the same initials (OoT) since the one I played wasn't an RPG to start off.

No, no, no. Your reasoning is very bad. Could I say the same about masterpieces from Picasso, Rembrandt? Age makes them better not worse. OoT is a game that anyone can play and even now is still a masterpiece.

OoT was the game that created a revolution back there in 1998. The story is great, the graphics were great, the sound, the gameplay all fantastic.

You cant base your opinion on a game without having finished it previously and, whats worse, to say its the best of all time, you would need to finish it at least many times.
Maybe some game can overshadow the greatness of OoT, but GTA4 doesnt come even close.

I'm confused... Have you finished both OoT and GTA4 several times?

NO! OMFG dont you understand what I wrote? Or are you just pretending to?

I say I can base my opininion on what I've played so far (OoT beaten more than 7 times), but he hasnt even played the game for more than 6 hours, so how can you possibly judge a game by just previewing it?

IMO as the GTA series is always roughly the same, its no contender for the best game of all time. Its funny how u do this qutes to provoke ppl, just shut up and dont annoy again.

Jesus dude. Calm down. Don't really know what your issue is. You know, I started off my post with 'I'm confused'...  I thought you had meant that GTA4 couldn't possibly be the 'greatest game ever' (getting tired of hearing this) without having ever played it. Personally, I don't think either of the two are close, but that's just me.

I simply misread into your post. So, try not to be such a jackass next time, yeesh.

And provoke people?! It was a simple question from what I had obviously misread, I didn't 'pretend' to understand it (whatever that means?). Also, please, grow up. Being so condescending is extremely showing of ones character.

OoT isn't even the best game on the 64. Mario 64 blows it away completely, as Mario's the best franchise in gaming. I know for damn sure this game isn't better than MArio 64...

THe question is does GTAIV>OoT out of the water.

@Rock Yeah , because we all know that our zelda games are RPGs, and NOT the same genre as GTA(Action-Adventure).

Being a better game than OoT doesn't really take much. There are multiple games better than it, even other games from the Zelda series. GTAIV probably is better OoT, but that really doesn't say much about GTAIV, now does it?

@pearljammer: Ok fair enough, my bad. I thought you were dissing me.
Sorry about that english its not my first language, though its not an excuse.

I meant that he is calling GTA4 the best game of all-time without having finished it.
And of course no person in the world is able to play all the games, I can jsut base my opinion on the games Ive played as well as everyone alive in the entire world.
Maybe I have missed the best game of all time, but I consider OoT the best, and GTA franchise is overrated and utterly boring (As ive said in all GTA threads) IMO so I wont even have to play to base an opinion on it.

Just as he gives his opinion, well Im giving you mine now.

It's quite obvious to anyone who has played it, that GTA IV is the greatest game of all time.
Everyone's in a stage of denial right now. In time they'll come around, but for now, those who are aware of the truth can sit back and laugh at the disbeleivers :)

Well  trestres you are entitled to your opinion. I do not agree with the bolded part. I believe the Zelda  series is  over rated  and utterly boring. OoT did nothing for me and I did play it with a strategy guide because I did not want to waste time on that game.

Ok, so I hear a lot of people comparing OoT to GTA4 in terms of "best game ever". Here is why I think GTA is far better then OoT.

First off, I think people really mean "Best game for its day" when they say "Best game ever". If OoT were released today, exactly as it is, and it was the first time you ever saw it, you would laugh it away as shovel ware.

There is no question it was a good game for its day, but hardware gets better, budgets get bigger, creative minds get more creative. Most games today, even middle of the road games, outshine OoT today.

So, let's talk about how good it was for its day. It came out in 1998, and was an action-adventure game on the N64. on the PC in 1998 , we had Baldur's Gate, Half Life, Quake II, Thief: Dark Project, Starcraft, Fallout (1997), fallout 2, Unreal, Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six, Myth II, and Falcon 4.0.

Every one of those games, from a technical perspective, was years ahead of OoT. You could not compare PC games to Console games back then, as PC's cost a lot to make, and you just could not make a piece of consumer electronics that had enough horsepower for the price. Also, a lot of those games (Starcraft and Falcon 4.0 mainly), are played by hundreds of thousands of gamers. They are not played as nostalgia to a time when they were young, they are still the definitive game for those genres.

Today is different. Spend any amount of money you want, and take any video/computer game you like, and there is nothing today that outshines GTA4.

Let's hope in 10 years, someone (hopefully me :p), will make the same comparison with whatever is out compared to GTA4. This is a great time to be alive, and be a gamer! :)

The idea that there are gamers that can't see past the technical limitations of a previous era to recognize the greatness of it's games scares the ever living crap out of me.

Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!

Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.

Personally I like both GTA and OoT, but I'll admit that after a while, even with all of it's freedoms, I get bored playing GTA. Today I find myself wanting to download OoT off of Wiiware after years of not playing it, even though I beat it several times. I never really get the urge to go back to GTA though, not that I really have anything against it.

I am kind of baised towards Fantasy themed games though.
