Forums - Nintendo - How do Wii-only owners feel about GTA4?

Wow all kinds of emotions come from Wii owners. Like I said, I was a Wii only owner myself I'd probably buy a 360 for this game.

But if you are a Wii owner that doesn't have the money I want to assure you that you are not missing out on essential gaming. The game is 10/10...but only because you can tell that over 100 million dollars has been spent on it. There really isn't a brand new, never seen before play mechanic or something completely revolutionary in GTA4.

1 player game is cool but I suspect more people will play online or just randomly beat up the hookers than actually play the 1 player story... thats what sandbox is all about isn't it?

Threatened.

Now we sill see the Xbox360 and PS3 in a sales and support boost.

Nintendomination will be severely staggered. Ouch.

I really hope Nintendo shows something on E3 and releases later this year that will be at least as big as GTAIV to counterstrike.

Wii Fit would like to have a word with you, sir.

Seriously, as big as the hoopla around GTA4 is, it'll basically be the equivalent of a summer blockbuster a la Halo 3. Wii Fit will be the game to watch in the coming months, and believe me, it'll help keep Nintendomination around for a long time to come.

"'Casual games' are something the 'Game Industry' invented to explain away the Wii success instead of actually listening or looking at what Nintendo did. There is no 'casual strategy' from Nintendo. 'Accessible strategy', yes, but ‘casual gamers’ is just the 'Game Industry''s polite way of saying what they feel: 'retarded gamers'."

I don't really care as I'm not a big fan of GTA/sandbox games anyway. However, I don't think it would be a bad idea to make Wii versions of these games. Give Wii owners some more adult content.

I'm in the same boat. Plus motion controls would make me want to run over kittens... Last time I played a game with motion controls for the Wii made by rockstar I killed 4 kittens(manhunt 2).

I never got around to Manhunt2 but if Rockstar could replicate the cotnrols of Godfather or even Scarface, it would work quite well.  I receommend both if you haven't tried either.   Particularly Godfather.   Now THAT'S next generation control.

How well did Rockstar do with Bully?

The rEVOLution is not being televised

I cried for Wii owners this morning.

If you haven't played this game, you've missed a milestone in open-world gaming, matter of fact, you've missed a milestone in gaming period.

This game is full of epic-win.

For those people who say they don't care about GTA4, would you say that you wouldn't buy it if it came out on the Wii?

I've got a PS3 and a Wii, and while I would say I'm not a huge of GTA (I played san andreas for about an hour.....) I will be getting this game.

@le_pat: I'm the opposite, I believe that I will like GTA4 more than Mario Kart, even though I'm actually a fan of the later, I believe nintendo dropped the ball on this one.

I am kinda shocked with how well it is being reviewed.

I generally do need to play games as soon as they are released. I will probably pick it up for the PC sometime, or when the PS3/360 become cheaper and I get one. I do not care if it comes to the Wii or not.

Never liked GTA games nor the sandbox genre to be honest.

I shall try godfather but I hated the 360 one so it may be a rental only...

Bully seems to have been pulled off well as reveiws are pretty decent...

@Garcian Smith:

You are right, but I was refering to Nintendomination more in the sense of developing the greatest videogames.

Nintendo games are often the ones regarded as the best of the best (review-wise at least), but now there's a new competitor for the greatest videogame of all: GTAIV

Wii Fit won't even be nominated for game of the year, that's for sure
