Forums - Nintendo - How do Wii-only owners feel about GTA4?

Whilst I am not only a Wii owner I am fed up with the same games appearing on XBox360 again and again so although I don't use Xbox 360 for any more than the arcade I do won more than just a Wii.

I really have no interest at all in GTA its the same boring game as GTA3, GTA SA etc and another boring remake as far as I'm concerned.

If it were on the Wii however, because I thoroughly enjoyed The Godfather using the Wii-mote and nunchuk combination I might just give GTA a go, because I would maybe get a different experience of the game instead of using the same tired old control method the previous GTAs used.

I liked the original GTA (it's the only one I have played), however I am not really after this one. I like the idea of a sanbox game and the genral game play of GTA is fun but I don't want the kind of language and extreme violence with high end graphics playing in my livingroom with my children around.

To be honest I would also have to play while my wife was not about as she would not like the language at all, I personally don't think it's needed in a game I am not against games with killing or violence but in a family environment it's got to be within limits for me.

I´m damn exited about it, even though I don´t like the way reviews praise the game. I was never such a big fan of GTA games (I always thought they were somewhat stupid) but rest assured I´ll buy the game together with my PS3 sometimes later this year

I own all the last gen GTA games and by the time San Andreas was released the format had grown stale IMO. The series is a jack of all trades but master of none. Despite all the critical acclaim, I've seen nothing to suggest that GTA4 is any different. I prefer revolutionary games which is why I rate GTA3 above VC and SA. I get the impression that GTA4 is more of the same which was my gripe with the earlier games. I will try the game out this weekend, although I suspect that I will be disappointed, given the excessive hype that surrounds it.

I've contemplated purchasing an HD console, but this game is only one of many considerations that will effect my decision. I've got Mario Kart and Wii Fit to keep me busy in the meantime.

I don't like it. I own one GTA, played it a couple of times, got rid of it. It's not my genre.

My former account was HeSSeH, but I lost it.

I am in the same boat as those waiting for it to come out for the PC.

I still have to finish San Andreas before I can start another one.

It looks great, I've played some of the previous games on my PC and I hope that GTA4 gets it's PC release soon.

But no, I wouldn't want a Wii port, it would look like San Andreas at best and some how I think the controls wouldn't fit that well.

You need to buy Godfather Blackhand. Wii controls for a sandbox style game are by far better than dual analog controllers. It really isn't even a comparison.

I know Im late to the thread, but seriously?

You must much more tolerant of control quality than I am, because the controls weren't very good at all. Melee attacks and grabs were a complete mess. In the tutorial, it took 5 times to grab and slam the guy into the wall. Shooting however, did work really well, and my favorite motion aspect is the fling of the Wiimote to open doors. But I don't see how it is any better than dual analog controls. At all.

While I absolutely expect GTA IV to drive PS360 hardware sales, I think the bulk of those sales will come from people who had always planned on buying a PS360 and had never really considered a Wii.

For those who have a Wii, I doubt GTA IV is frequently going to get people to go out and get one of these machines. While GTA IV is exceptionally good, we have lots of other titles that appeal to the exact same demographic with the exact same tastes already.

Halo, Gears of War, Call of Duty -- all of these are also "cinematic" shooting games targetted at the 16-30 year old male demographic. All of them qualify as "very very good," and "very very popular."

Will it make a difference if they release a game that is very very good and very very very popular? I doubt it.  It would have to be very very good, very very popular, and have a distinct style that appeals to a distinct demographic

GTA4 does not hold much interest for me. The key issues that have plagued the series since its inception (such as extremely unforgiving, linear missions with more based on luck than actual skill) have not been fixed. Further, each new GTA has introduced a new wave of odd glitches and errors that make the game feel incomplete. If I ever do, for some odd reason, decide to play it, I will just get the PC version. But I rather doubt that will happen at this point...

Sky Render - Sanity is for the weak.

I'm on the "couldnt care less" team, the game is good but it doesnt interest me, I will eventually get a ps3 or a 360, maybe free with a phone or something, lots of deals here for that, I dont think I would ever pay for a 360 or a ps3 though. But games like wipe out and burn out are what interest me on thoes consoles

BRING BACK EXTREME G!!!!!!!!!! and make it like the first! but with awesome graphics and controls and weapons ect
