Forums - Sales - GTAIV sales

According to my sources, each EB Games/Gamestop recieved about 200 copies of GTA total. Each Walmart got about 130, Target got 100, and the other places got between 40 - 80.

Using the mystical art of guestimation and basically using my sources estimates to balance out my prediction; I predict roughly 6 million copies sold worldwide.

lol, not really. My sources are from my PSU days. My contact does not feel VGC is anywhere close to accurate on software and refuses to give the site any data. Believe me I tried.

whops, I deleted my post, Ok 4.5 mill is my guesstimation based on the 30mill install base its selling on, thats world wide sales for its first launch week, I couldnt see it selling much better then that, it will go the way of halo I'm thinking.

If at first you don't succeed, you fail

6 million minimum, its sold out everywhere here, its a much bigger game than halo 3 so it should sell at least as much at launch, my post hasnt arrived yet, but im eagerly watching the front door for my copy to arrive!

:p ;) we will soon see

The PS3 version is nowhere to be found in Norway anymore

Basically, it says that the only ones with any hope of getting it the first few days or so are those who had a pre-order (pre-orders were insane here, I'll probably get som numbers next week). I'm surprised that the 360 version has sold so poorly (relatively, still good numbers) seeing the amounts of software it has moved here so far.

The first week worldwide would be equal to the shipment, which should be at least 6 million (4 million pre-orders in NA alone speaks volumes), I think it could even approach 7-8 when all in factored in! This is undoubtedly the most successful game thus far in this generation, whether you like it or not.

PS: The amount of GTA IV threads in here is getting ludicrous (like the SSBB threads a while back) and I'm beginning to see why Zen avoided the site yesterday.

WOOOOOO 4.2 world wide on first daY! leaving a dribble of about 300,000 to fall in over the week to meet my 4.5 mill bet!!!! we will see what happens ;) 6 mill... pft :p 4.5 mill guys! come on!!! I dont think it would get higher then 5mill but I would say its gonna be closer to 4.5 then 5 mill, so lets see what happens

If at first you don't succeed, you fail

It should have already passed 6 million, I bought mine the 2nd day, and they are selling fast.

GameStop: GTA IV "Neck-and-Neck" with Halo 3

By Kris Graft
US-based game retailer GameStop has told Next-Gen that day-one sales of Grand Theft Auto IV across GameStop stores could bump down Halo 3 and Madden NFL 08 on its own top-sellers list.ImageGTA IV has certainly been raking in the cash at Irvine, Tex.-based GameStop since its launch on Tuesday, but the firm isn't certain yet whether or not it has trumped other heavy hitters in terms of day-one sales.

"[For initial 24-hour sales] it is definitely in the top three in the course of the history of the company ... and it's neck-and-neck with Halo 3 and Madden 08 ," said GameStop media relations director Chris Olivera in a phone interview.

GameStop expects to have GTA IV sales figures compiled from its 5,000-plus stores worldwide towards the end of the week.

The title launched on Tuesday to plenty of fanfare, with GameStop locations hosting midnight events, selling the game the minute it was available.

Industry watchers have said they expect the game to generate $400 million in sales in the first week alone, compared to Halo 3's $300 million week-one bounty. Analysts have also said they expect the game to ship around 6 million copies in week one.
