well nintendo broke out of the hd grafix thingy and focussed on family type casual gaming, which has become a hit worldwide, yuo only need to look at the adverts to see how well they are doing.

The Wii's success is a combination of several factors. I'd say the biggest are dropping out of the self-destructive graphics race, making an attempt to draw in even more diverse crowds than the Playstations, and offering something new to everyone with the wiimote.

Cheaper price allowing people to get it IF they want it (and they want!)

so why do they want it ?

- Wiimote special control
- OFFLINE party games allowing you to play with ur familly and ur girl friend (Wiisport)
- Ninty games appealing to Ninty fans (SMG)
- special games like Wiifit that can create "hype" like iphone/ipod and appeal to non-gamer

NOTE: funny to see the best selling console (Wii) is not able to inhibit PS3/Xbox360 sales when the PSX shutdowned the Saturn/N64 sales and the PS2 killed the GC/Xbox sales : it is selling to people that are not interest by the "classic" saloon console that, usually, appeal to male teenagers.
