They'll cut the life short like they did for the first Xbox... 2009 will be a new Xbox.

Actually, the original Xbox only had a 4 year life cycle...though I expect the 360 to last at least 1 year longer than that.

The new Xbox I think will be out in late 2011 based on a 6 year cycle. But the 360 will last till 2012.

I'd say new system in 012 with the last good games comming out in 013. MS is going to try to recoup some of the money its lost on the xbox franchise so a launch timed to be inline with the PS4 is more likely than an early launch to gain market share.

I didn't read everything.... but my opinion has change since the launch... back in 2006 I would have said mid /end 2011.... but looking at the situation it will probably last longer.... with the hardware problem/cost they had.. they need a longer lifespan to hope to break even or something..... on top of that... they might be third and as long as Sony is not coming up with something new... they might choose to turn profit longer then.....

that's where I think sony is in trouble actually... whatever they end up doing this gen... why??? either they'll stay third which means MS will be more or less in control on their target market for next gen.... or PS 3 keeps doing better and better than the 360 and MS will release a new console earlier....

we'll see... it's kind of hard to say.... wait for E 3 lol.. maybe even E 3 2010.... but if you want games now... go for it..... if you don't care about waiting... wait until the end of the gen and buy a used one for cheap then..... it's all up to you....

so, 2008, 2009, 2010 you can play with no fear, except RROD. =))

Hopefully MS wont suddenly kill off the 360 once they release its succesor like they did with the original xbox.
