Gamepass with ads, seems like it should be a lot cheaper. And $132 per year just for online? Microsoft should just pick two tiers and stick with them. One with ads one without.

Anyone else miss the PS2 generation? Buy $299.99/$199.99 console at launch, hook it up to TV, buy $49.99 games that are 100% complete on disc at the store when they come out and that's it. Nothing changes. No console updates that screw with the UI. No game updates that screw with the game. Just console, TV, controller, and game. Done and done.

At first i thought it was a good concept... but eventually i realized I just dont play enough games to make it more efficient than just buying the games. It may be worth it if you play a lot of games and only on XBox, but the economics just arent there for most people.

Those were the days! Seriously consoles should have never connected to the internet, PCs could offer that experience. When a system is offline, the company cannot just come and change the conditions of your experience after you have already invested in it.
Game Pass is like an all you can eat buffet that raises its pricing with the argument of adding even more food choice.
Me: Oh I pay more for even more food I never eat, cause it doesn't increase the size of my tummy.
Tummy=Time for games.
It never made sense for me.
UPDATE | Paul Tassi (Forbes) got a statement from an Xbox spokesperson about this:
“We regularly test different Game Pass offerings and look at what works best for players in different markets. We don’t have any changes to announce today or plans that have been finalized. There are no changes to previously announced games coming to Game Pass Ultimate on day one.”
Anyway we had a ton of rumours before , Disney+ will be added, it will be bundled with Netlfix, It will get ads in 2025 and so on. Ofcourse it could end up true but guess we wait till next year and what Asha says the first 100 days is still going on..

Xbox has always offered a up front year sub for online only like they do now for $70. You could pay monthly but it doubles the cost.
Take these prices with a grain of salt. Nothing is certain and leakers have acknowledged the prices are not certain.

For Xbox? Possibly. For consumers? No way. I had Game Pass Ultimate for years until the $30 price hike and it was some of the best years of gaming. I played more games than I ever have before.
