Forums - Sales - PSP software sales..

Then how it is explainable that PSP software sales are 50% from last year even with a greater userbase ?

One possibility is that most customers are simply not interested in PSP games, but get it for the multimedia functions. Or maybe piracy is just that bad, although it isn't exactly hard to do on the DS and software sales are soaring. Then again the DS has more casual gamers, and they tend to be less good at, or even aware of, piracy stuff.

A pity really, because the PSP has hoards of great games I wish were coming to a console I own.

Crush came out today, it's getting good reviews and is touted as one of those really exceptional games for a hand held (like Lumines, Exit). It might sell well this week, but it's hard to say, it's one of those great games that are niche. We'll see next week how it did.

Thanks to Blacksaber for the sig!

Well look at this:

Over the last 4 weeks (start of May until now):

172k PSPs were sold and 512k PSP games were sold in NA (total PSP userbase in NA is 8.2m)

Over  4 weeks earlier in the year (start of March to end of March):

167k PSPs were sold  and 933k PSP games were sold in NA (total PSP userbase  in NA is 7.7m)

Right, so there is 500k more PSPs now than there was in March and more PSPs were sold over the last month, but, around half of the number of games were sold in May compared to March.

Something is wrong!

Prediction (June 12th 2017)

Permanent pricedrop for both PS4 Slim and PS4 Pro in October.

PS4 Slim $249 (October 2017)

PS4 Pro $349 (October 2017)

Memory Stick slot. Piracy is so damn common because of it. They should provided internal 32 Mb memory only for saves instead of MSD.

This really annoys me. I can understand people wanting to play old Genesis or SNES games via an emulator, but not the people wanting to play copied games via custom firmware and ISO's. There is someone I know that doesn't even own a genuine PSP game and just downloads them to his 2gb memory stick.

I've not done this...and once MGS Portable Ops arrives, I will have 17 genuine games.

because when you play from a MSD it decreases loading times and increases battery life

two of the main failures of the PSP

Help! I'm stuck in a forum signature!

Well, since you can download PSP games onto your PSP for free anyways, why buy the games?

Only thing that really sucks in PSP is Memory Stick slot. Piracy is so damn common because of it. They should provided internal 32 Mb memory only for saves instead of MSD.

You do know that the DS is MUCH easier to hack don't you? No firmware downgrades, no bricking etc. On the PSP you have to: Downgrade the firmware, buy a 2GB card which can be filled with 2 games.

On the DS you just buy a flashcard with 1GB card which can be filled with 20-25 games.

In any case the piracy with the PSP was the same last year and some months-weeks ago .... Something is wrong with the numbers .
