Forums - Sony - What Are Your Favorite PlayStation Platformers?

Tagged games:

These past few days, I’ve been doing my first playthrough of the Spyro Reignited Trilogy (and wow what a blast I’m having! These Spyro games are just too much fun.) and I started thinking: What other PlayStation platforming gems have I been missing out on? Hence this thread is birthed.

So far, I’ve only played the Crash N’sane Trilogy, all the Astro games, and now Spyro. What else am I missing out on? What are your favorite PlayStation platformers?

Ratchet & Clank. It comes with a twist as it blends in lots of shooting and combat in general (especially in later entries) but I still think it qualifies as a platformer. I love it all; visuals, controls, level design, soundtrack and especially its gameplay loop and that one of a kind edgy satire of consumerism and corporate greed. All of the mainline games are put together rather well but the PS2 ones (OG, Going Commando, Up Your Arsenal and Deadlocked) are my favorite ones. Heck, they made me fell in love with gaming in the first place. You should definitely give it a shot!

I understand we're talking about 3D platformers...

Ratchet & Clank: Rift apart and Astro bot.

Astro Bot is #1 for me, but Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy isn’t far behind.

Ratchet & Clank is sort of a borderline platformer, but it’s brilliant nonetheless. One of the great PlayStation franchises, full stop.

The early Oddworld games on PS1 are excellent.

The first Jak game is awesome, never managed to get into Jak 2. I have finished Daxter as well which is pretty average but I still enjoy it.

I liked the first Sly too, haven't gotten around to the others yet.

The Mainline ratchet games are all great.

Castlevania: Symphony of the Night

Never been my fav genre buy i love Rayman and Astro Bot quite a lot. Also have a soft spot for R&C

I like Sly Cooper. Ape Escape 1. Medevil 1 on PS1/PS4. Gravity Rush 1 on Vita I liked a lot. I only played 2 Ratchet games and liked them. PS4/5 ones. I'm not much of a platformer fan in the strictest genre sense but a few I like.

I didn't get into Jak 2 and Sly at first either, but then replayed them with the remaster trilogies and ended up liking them a lot. Bit of a bummer those remastered trilogies are stuck on PS3. It seems the emulated ps2 versions on ps4/ps5 don't run as well.

Ratchet and Clank is the best though, where is the next game!!! 2029 estimate? wtf.

The Jak trilogy on Vita is the worst version, they locked it to 20fps lol, it's basically unplayable. I platinumed Jak 1 on both PS3 and PS4, only finished the first hub area on Vita.

I just bought a PS3 again, and was dismayed to see physical copies of all of the HD collections are expensive to get (by used PS3 titles standards). Ratchet, Sly, Jak, GoW they're all in the £40-£60 range.

Every single sly title is expensive, £25-£60 each lol no matter the platform. Jak PS2 games are about £5 each.
