Still got the XBone under the TV. The hard drive space on the Series X didn’t impress me, so I thought I’d wait until the premium version of the Box was released.

Experience with the 360 and PS3 taught me to expect a larger hard drive at a lower price by the midpoint of the cycle. “I am a genius.” I thought to myself. “I can save a lot of money by filling up that drive with a library of discounted games.” Well, we all know how THAT turned out.

So I’m committing fully to the PC. But I’m still a console player at heart, so I’m going to rig it to the television and play from the couch.

In a normal generation you would have been set, we just currently live in the dumbest timeline.

Around the Network

The only Xbox I ever had was Xbox One. Got it for 4K blu-ray, backwards compatibility and the chance to finally try some of Xbox’ franchises.
They dropped the ball completely on exclusives and didn’t make a comeback with Series X, so went with PS5 instead.
Sony is now making a good case for project Helix. I am not convinced yet, but I won’t rule out getting it. I will rule out getting a PS6.

I really didn't think I would care for Xbox anymore, I was getting burned by the lackluster lineup, and Phil and Sarah's continuous confusing and weak messaging around the brand, with less and less focus on the console itself. Project Latitude was the final nail in the coffin for me personally. Xbox One was my preferred console the past gen but was moving on to PS5.

But now things have changed quickly. The planned end of physical for PlayStation, in contrast with Xbox' Disc-to-digital, as well as the return of Xbox console exclusives (with Gears of War E Day actually looking incredible)... all were pushing the needle back towards Xbox. And then, the green translucent Xbox Series X25 console was shown, and that was like the activation of the Xbox sleeper agent in me, and I just had to Jump back in (I actually did manage to get it pre-ordered).

I'm still rocking the series s. Bought it back in 2021 for £230 which was a super price point. I wanted a current gen experience at a budget price and it ticks all the boxes. Not as flashy as the PS5 or series X but gets the job done.
