Forums - Sales - Is the site underestimating PS5 sales?

There is a difference of more than 4 months between units shipped and sold for the PS5 ...

Around the Network

I believe Sony will update shipped consoles in their quarterly report August 6th.

I would imagine the site will end up being extremely accurate (within a tolerance of 100,000 or so) like it usually is. If adjustments are needed they usually happen quickly, which is much appreciated!

Considering the Famitsu and Circana numbers are basically set in stone, they would need to be understimating mostly on Europe, the one place where the PS5 is doing better. So no, I don't think they are understimating those numbers. Just look at how poorly PS5 sold on the last quarter of the last fiscal year, according to Sony themselves and that was before the price hike. The truth is that Sony probably overshipped, which is not something uncommon. PS5 is just taking a while to match due to the poor sales. Nintendo for example overshipped on hollidays last year.
