Welcome to the June 2026 VGChartz estimates thread, which includes the dates from May 31 to July 3. The articles breaking down June 2026 estimates will be posted in this thread.

VGChartz Methodology: Hardware estimates are based on retail sampling and trends in individual countries, which are then extrapolated to represent the wider region. This typically allows us to produce figures that end up being within 10% of the actual totals.

This data is regularly compared against official shipment figures released by the console manufacturers and figures estimated by regional trackers with greater market coverage than ourselves. We then update our own estimates to bring them into line with those figures. This can result in frequent changes often within a short space of time, but we feel it's important to prioritise accuracy over consistency.

Note that our estimates are based on sell-through data (units sold to consumers). In almost all cases the figures released by console manufacturers are based on shipment data (sell-in), where as soon as a device has left the factory and entered the supply chain for delivery it is considered a sale. This is why there is always a difference between the companies’ figures (sell-in) and VGChartz estimates (sell-through), even after we’ve made adjustments. The one exception to that is when a console has been discontinued and the remaining stock has finally sold out – at that point the figures will match.

Switch 2 Best-Seller, PS5 and XS Sales Climb - Europe Hardware Estimates for June 2026

The Nintendo Switch 2 was the best-selling console in Europe with 229,966 units sold for June 2026, according to VGChartz estimates. The Switch 2 has sold 4.83 million units lifetime. 

The PlayStation 5 was the second best-selling console with an estimated 210,036 units sold to bring lifetime sales to 32.82 million units. The Xbox Series X|S came in third place with 50,338 units sold to bring its lifetime sales to 8.68 million units. The Nintendo Switch 1 was the fourth best-selling console with an estimated 33,919 units sold to bring lifetime sales to 39.84 million units.

Switch 2 sales compared to the same month for the Switch 1 in 2018 are down by nearly 22,000 units as the Switch 1 sold 251,779 units in Europe in June 2018.

PS5 sales compared to the same month for the PS4 in 2019 are down by nearly 211,000 units, while the Xbox Series X|S compared to the same month for the Xbox One are down by over 22,000 units. PS4 sold 420,952 units for the month of June 2019 and Xbox One sales were at 83,519 units.

Switch 2 sales compared to the same month a year ago are down by 924,372 (-80.1%). PlayStation 5 sales are down by 158,846 (-43.1%), Xbox Series X|S sales are up by 3,256 units (6.9%) and Nintendo Switch 1 sales are down by 41,516 units (-55.0%).

Looking at sales month-on-month, Switch 2 sales are up by over 56,000 units, PlayStation 5 sales are up by over 86,000 units, Xbox Series X|S sales are up by nearly 22,000 units, and Nintendo Switch 1 sales are up by over  1,000 units.

2026 year-to-date, the Nintendo Switch 2 has sold an estimated 1.25 million units, the PlayStation 5 has sold 1.11 million units, the Nintendo Switch 1 has sold 0.20 million units, and the Xbox Series X|S has sold 0.17 million units.

Switch 2 Best-Seller, XS Sales Jump 83% YoY - Americas Hardware Estimates for June 2026

The Nintendo Switch 2 was the best-selling console in the Americas (USA, Canada, & Latin America) with 429,180 units sold for June 2026, according to VGChartz estimates. The Switch 2 has sold 7.66 million units lifetime.

The PlayStation 5 was the second best-selling console with an estimated 202,663 units sold to bring lifetime sales to 36.43 million units. The Xbox Series X|S came in third place with 157,613 units sold to bring its lifetime sales to 21.85 million units. The Nintendo Switch was the fourth best-selling console with an estimated 52,711 units sold to bring lifetime sales to 59.13 million units.

Switch 2 sales compared to the same month for the Switch 1 in 2018 are up by over 57,000 units as the Switch 1 sold 371,807 units in the Americas in June 2018.

PS5 sales compared to the same month for the PS4 in 2019 are down by nearly 118,000 units, while the Xbox Series X|S compared to the same month for the Xbox One are down by nearly 80,000 units. PS4 sold 320,376 units for the month of June 2019 and Xbox One sales were at 237,123 units.

Switch 2 sales compared to the same month a year ago are down by 1,511,895 units (-77.9%). PlayStation 5 sales are down by 162,007 (-33.3%), Xbox Series X|S sales are up by 71,489 units (83.0%) and Switch 1 sales are down by 78,179 units (-59.7%).

Looking at sales month-on-month, Nintendo Switch 2 sales are up by over 122,000 units, PlayStation 5 sales are up by over 89,000 units, Xbox Series X|S sales are up by over 77,000 units, and Nintendo Switch 1 sales are up by over 7,000 units.

2026 year-to-date, the Nintendo Switch 2 has sold 2.21 million units, the PlayStation 5 has sold 1.42 million units, the Xbox Series X|S has sold 0.60 million units, and the Nintendo Switch 1 has sold 0.31 million units.

Switch 2 Sales Drop Following Price Increase - Japan Hardware Estimates for June 2026

The Nintendo Switch 2 was the best-selling console in Japan with 137,891 units sold for June 2026, according to VGChartz estimates. The Nintendo Switch 2 has now sold an estimated 6.16 million units lifetime.

The PlayStation 5 sold an estimated 47,210 units to bring its lifetime sales to 7.63 million units. The Nintendo Switch 1 sold an estimated 36,216 units to bring its lifetime sales to 36.96 million units. The Xbox Series X|S sold 2,897 units to bring their lifetime sales to 0.71 million units.

Switch 2 sales compared to the same month for the Switch 1 in 2018 are down by nearly 98,000 units as the Switch 1 sold 235,870 units in Japan in June 2018.

PS5 sales compared to the same month for the PS4 in 2019 are down by over 51,000 units, while the Xbox Series X|S compared to the same month for the Xbox One are up by nearly 2,000 units. PS4 sold 98,485 units for the month of June 2019 and Xbox One sales were at 1,072 units.

Nintendo Switch 2 sales compared to the same month a year ago are down by 1,179,056 units (-89.5%). Nintendo Switch 1 sales are down by 39,709 units (-52.3%), PlayStation 5 sales are down by 9,723 (-17.1%), and Xbox Series X|S sales are up by 1,213 units (72.0%).

Looking at sales month-on-month, Nintendo Switch 2 sales are down by nearly 497,000 units, Nintendo Switch 1 sales are down by over 22,000 units, PlayStation 5 sales are up by over 8,000 units, and Xbox Series X|S sales are up by over 400 units.

2026 year-to-date, the Nintendo Switch 2 has sold an estimated 2.06 million units, the Nintendo Switch 1 has sold 0.46 million units, the PlayStation 5 has sold 0.30 million units, and the Xbox Series X|S has sold 0.01 million units.

Switch 2 Best-Seller, XS Tops 35M LT - Worldwide Hardware Estimates for June 2026

The Nintendo Switch 2 was the best-selling console worldwide with 915,895 units sold for June 2026, according to VGChartz estimates. The Switch 2 has sold 21.67 million units lifetime.

The PlayStation 5 was the second best-selling console, with an estimated 617,962 units sold, to bring lifetime sales to 92.96 million units. The Xbox Series X|S came in third place with 223,268 units sold, to bring its lifetime sales to 35.02 million units. The Nintendo Switch 1 came in fourth place, with an estimated 151,661 units sold, to bring lifetime sales to 154.97 million units.

Switch 2 sales compared to the same month for the Switch 1 in 2018 are down by over 74,000 units, as the Switch 1 sold 990,211 units in June 2018.

PS5 sales compared to the same month for the PS4 in 2019 are down by over 431,000 units, while the Xbox Series X|S compared to the same month for the Xbox One are down by over 156,000 units. The PS4 sold 1,049,280 units for the month of June 2019 and Xbox One sales were at 379,741 units.

Switch 2 sales compared to the same month a year ago are down by 4,491,955 (-83.1%). PlayStation 5 sales are down by 450,382 (-42.2%), Xbox Series X|S sales are up by 75,262 units (50.9%) and Nintendo Switch 1 sales are down by 191,329 units (-55.8%).

Looking at sales month-on-month, Nintendo Switch 2 sales are down by nearly 321,000 units, PlayStation 5 sales are up by over 228,000 units, Xbox Series X|S sales are up by nearly 105,000 units, and Nintendo Switch 1 sales are down by nearly 14,000 units.

2026 year-to-date, the Nintendo Switch 2 has sold 6.09 million units, the PlayStation 5 has sold 3.53 million units, the Nintendo Switch 1 has sold 1.16 million units, and the Xbox Series X|S has sold 0.84 million units.

The Switch 2 has slowed down thanks to its sales declining heavily in Japan though elsewhere it will keep doing as well the next couple months while the Switch 1 hits another low with a notable decline the past few months for it. The PS5 did somewhat better than last month and Xbox Series did way better and should do even better than this in July but then sales of it will basically die. Overall the first half of this year has been kinda rough console sales wise with the Switch 2 the sole bright spot but sales of that are gonna slow down further soon and the 2nd half of this year overall is gonna be even more rough but that's just the calm before the 2027 storm really.

Only like 100k til the Switch 2 outsells the Gamecube.

It's interesting that row sales for ns1 are higher than in Europe and Japan anymore, plus fairly close to NA, i. E 39k.

wow ROW for NS1 did really well 38.6k, not bad. If Nintendo can bring some type of new version of NS1 and price it at $199 (or lower if possible) it would sell very well.
