Best looking game this generation... no... best looking game this year... very possible... but what makes a game the best looking ??? Sure it needs good graphics... but also style and gears 1 had a great style...

It will look great. But, it is really subjective whether it will be the best at the time. Everyone prefers different themes in graphics.

Personally, I like Halo 3 and Unchartered graphics as they are more colorful. I found Resistance and Gears to be darker and less vibrant but much more detailed.

I still think bioshocks art deco art direction trumps all atm.

The lighting and textures are guaranteed to be amazing, but I hate the way that Unreal Engine games have boring colours. Give me Mario Galaxy colours with GOW textures & lighting and then I'd be impressed.

No. There will be subsequent improvements in graphics on the 360 alone as this generation unfolds.

I think Epics GDC talk on the improvements made to the Unreal Engine is a really good starting point if you want to know what the next Gears game will be like.

-Expect to see a revamp of the graphics, especially a new lighting system.
-Destructible environments.
-Hordes of Locust. Not 3 or 4 but hundreds as was shown at GDC.
-Greater interaction with objects, they showed off a huge cube of meat and a mercury type substance with realistic viscosity.

Obviously we don't know what the game will look like yet until E3 perhaps but i think this game will again have the WOW factor. I don't know if it will be the best looking but it will certainly be on par with the likes of Resistance 2 and Killzone 2.

It wont be best looking game for this gen, but 2008? probably.

Flame me to death, but generally I don't think Unreal Engine 3 games are all that good looking.

BioShock looks awesome, but Gears of War looks to brownish/greyish/overly bloomish for my taste.

NOooo...  I don't think so...This gen just has started and in my opinion Uncharted looks better than GOW 1 and the next Uncharted probably can surpass GOW 2 but still then their are years coming full with new games new engines and more beautifull games;

(Just look to God Of War on PS2 or Donkey Kong Country on Snes;)
