Just announced; should greatly improve backwards compatibility by having Switch 1 games target docked resolutions on Switch 2 while portable.

I play almost exclusively on TV, but definitely a welcome update! Kirby Star Allies at 1080p on-the-go… ooh that sounds really nice.
It took them sweet time, but great that they finally made this requested feature a reality.

Holy shit, they did it. I always wanted them to do this, but wasn't sure they would...
This is great news of handheld players. The main problem of Switch 1 BC on Switch 2 was the lack of resolution (and the stupid double upscaling that made anything lower than 720p look even blurrier). Now we get 720p minimum on all games as well as 900p and native 1080 in many games. Fantastic.
Can't wait to check this out on things like DOOM, Prime Remaster, NEO TWEWY and the Xenoblade games.

Great. Now do it for Switch 2 games too if you are plugged in to power. PSP used to do this.
I just checked Xenoblade 2, Crash Bandicoot Trilogy, Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze, DOOM 2016, Metroid Dread, Metroid Prime Remastered, Astral Chain, and NEO: TWEWY.
For anything that went from 360-540p to 720-800p woth the boost, the difference is night and day. Most of them looked awful on S2 before, but now they look pretty good.
For anything that went from 600-720p to 900-1080p, the improvement is not as substantial, but it's noticeable and worth it nonetheless.
Now I need to test to what extent this boost affects battery life.
