Sell-through estimates at here at VGChartz has the Nintendo Switch outselling lifetime sales of the Nintendo DS in February 2026 (So far only Japan and RoW have been posted for the month). I will post articles on the milestone once worldwide estimates for the month are posted. This includes the last Switch vs DS monthly sales article and a Switch outsells DS article.

Up next is the PS2's 160 million lifetime.

Nice; no shade to the DS, but the Switch is on another level and fully deserves the crown of best selling Nintendo system ever.

Yes, the rest of the world and sales holding up decently well in Japan will be crucial for it to have any shot of outselling the PS2. Sales have dropped rather quick in the US and Europe.

It definitely deserves the number one Nintendo spot. It was the first Nintendo console I've owned since the N64 and Game Boy Color. I did play other Nintendo consoles in between via friends. But not enough to buy one of them.
