Forums - Sales - NS+PS5+XBOXS has now exceeded total sales of greatest gen ever, 7th,industry bounced back.

Will 10th Gen repeat that success?

Yes 3 16.67%

No 13 72.22%

It will be very close. 2 11.11%

Total:18

Greatest is subjective. For instance, if a person weighs innovation and creativity, they will likely point to the NES, Genesis or PS1 era as the greatest. If they weigh connectivity, they might choose last generation. And if they weigh graphics and audio, the current.

Also, sales don't mean much other than the industry has grown larger.

Still an interesting topic, though.

I think PC starts eating console sales. I think the market will shrink for consoles.

Not with the rate at which PC prices are shooting up— the PC I built in December has already shot up $400USD in price ($1,900 v. $2,300). And this was already up from $1,600 in September.

As far as console sales are concerned: PS6 and Project Helix will price out consumers. And NS2 can only carry so hard, especially when last gen (NS1) saw over 154mil (and counting) sales. The market will shrink this upcoming generation, there’s really no way around it.

Maybe.  But DLSS 4.5 is kind of insane.  May not require much a rig to play games at 1080p/60fps.

Exactly this, albeit the installbsse is already immense.

Hehe You built a pc just in time like me. What kind of processor and gpu did you choose?

RX9070XT + R5 7600X. I’ve only used it for emulation thus far, but it works like a charm! The ceiling I’m currently hitting is 1080p 60fps on Wii U emulation— surely this set up should be capable of 1440p, no? I’d imagine I’ve got some settings screwed up. But 4k 60FPS on all those N64, GCN, and Wii games… ooooh it feels so good!!

Yes you should be easy able to hit even 4K on that setup with Wii U emulation, even Switch emulation. so yeah something up with your settings.

if you want to pm me maybe i can help you with your settings been using emus for years now

So what your saying is NS1 is part of the PS5/XBS generation. That means, NS2 is the start of Gen 10, this also means PS5 is last gen?

Of course!

I mean greatest commercially.

All big three had monstrous sales.

Generations don't mean anything anymore.  Games are scalable and harsware is rated on power.

It's a bit complicated.

Yeah, because ns1 competed more with ps5 and XBOXS.

Hadn't thought that! Why not?

Ps5 will be 7 years old  next year (that's the usual life circle for Playstation) , in spite of feeling still new.

Wii u lifetime was cut early.

It could have another year, it barely had a drop from fiscal year 15 to 16, 3.38 vs 3.26,....

Ns could have launched closer to ps5 and XBOXS.

Ahh you are one day too late— I literally just got all my setting fixed yesterday. Went from Skylanders Trap Team capping at 30FPS 1080p to 244FPS 4K… three issues I discovered: (i) HDMI was plugged into motherboard, not GPU. (ii) I needed to reinstall my graphics drivers. (Vulkan was crashing everytime I used it.) (iii) As a result of Vulkan not working, I would only every use OpenGL, which for reference was only using 10MB of my 32GB RAM lol.

The fact that I was even hitting 1440p 60FPS on Wii games is truly astonishing with all that was screwed up.
