Yeah the Janta Ka guy looks legit. Didn't know he was a BBC editor.

Iran is a theocratic dictatorship. Nothing they say can be trusted.

Iran's threats can be trusted... They have acted on every escalating strike with a counter escalating strike.

Will Trump follow through on his threats (threatening with war crimes, intl law is truly dead). Iran has already said they will attack power plants in the gulf states and Israel if Trump further escalates. Hopefully another TACO moment or things will get even worse.

Trump threatens to “hit and obliterate” Iran's power plants if Strait of Hormuz not opened in 48 hours

President Donald Trump threatened Saturday to “hit and obliterate” Iranian power plants if Tehran does not reopen the Strait of Hormuz within 48 hours.

“If Iran doesn’t FULLY OPEN, WITHOUT THREAT, the Strait of Hormuz, within 48 HOURS from this exact point in time, the United States of America will hit and obliterate their various POWER PLANTS, STARTING WITH THE BIGGEST ONE FIRST!” Trump wrote in a Truth Social post.

The threat marks an escalation in rhetoric from Trump, who’s previously dangled the option of hitting Iranian infrastructure but cautioned it would impair the country’s ability to rebuild. And it’s a tacit acknowledgement that the strait’s closure provides Iran significant leverage.

Trump’s latest threat comes a day after he said the US is considering “winding down” military efforts in the Middle East and dismissed questions about the White House’s plan for restoring traffic through the Strait of Hormuz, saying that “at a certain point, it’ll open itself.”

It also comes after Trump said Thursday that he’d told Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to stop attacks on Iranian oil and gas facilities.

Living in fantasy land, even if Iran says ok the straight is open (which they say already, make a deal with us and we'll let your through as Chinese tankers are still getting through) what western tankers are going to risk testing the Straight... Plus it will take months to get oil/gas production back up to speed.

Iran pledges ‘tit-for-tat’ retaliation following Trump’s threats

This is not the first time that Iranians are facing attacks on their infrastructure. Previously, in the second week of the war, the Iranian energy minister said some of the country’s electricity and water infrastructure were targeted. And now [with Trump’s threat], we’re facing another potential major blow.

We have to keep in mind that Iranians have witnessed devastating attacks by the Americans and Israelis on oil facilities in the capital. Those strikes created a lot of damage, specifically when it comes to environmental aspects. Water, soil and air contamination became a serious health concern for people living in Tehran, and that risk remains if further strikes materialise.

We saw an immediate reaction from the Iranian side. The spokesperson for the Khatam al-Anbiya headquarters came out shortly after Trump’s statement to spell out a tit-for-tat strategy, and this is very much part of Iran’s posture since the beginning of these air strikes.

They’re saying that if a bank is attacked, we’re going to attack banks. If an oil facility is targeted, we’re going to do the same. So this is just an echo of the same statement that we heard from the spokesperson.

Over 1,400 killed as US-Israeli strikes hit homes, hospitals and schools across Iran

We are hearing sounds consistent with the activation of Tehran’s air defence system, something that typically indicates incoming drone attacks. Reports of explosions are coming from the eastern parts of Tehran as well as from other cities, including Kharg.

Since the start of the conflict, more than 200 cities have been hit by American and Israeli air strikes. Over 1,400 people have been killed, with many more wounded. And when it comes to the targets, it is not just military headquarters, police stations or government buildings – residential areas are being struck as well.

A considerable number of the sites hit are homes and apartments belonging to ordinary civilians. Schools, hospitals and even buildings belonging to the Red Crescent have all been targeted over the past three weeks.

That on top of over 1,000 dead in Lebanon from Israeli strikes.

I just filled up the car today. Did it right after Trump/Netanyahu attacked Iran, was 1.31 per liter then, 1.69 per liter today. During the pandemic gas was 0.79 per liter here.

Okay yeah, maybe their threats can be trusted. What's your source on the 1400 killed by strikes on homes, hospitals, and schools? I just want proof for the people in my life who are Trump fans.

crazy how you try to argue (sure without saying it like this) against the number of 1400 killed by strikes on homes, hospitals and schools when you have so many sources from satellite data, on the ground videos and NGO reports. When you sometimes see whole apartment blocks or parts of hospital wings destroyed you should rather wonder how it's "only" 1400 and not ask for the single proof of every single building.

Just check as example HRANA, they aren't pro regime and called hostile to it by the regime itself. They already mentioned above 1000 civilian deaths on the 4th of March.

Not trying to argue against it at all. I want irrefutable proof to confront Trump supporters with.

A noble endeavor, but I very strongly suspect that their response will do nothing but make you question your continued association with them.

Aljazeera, which Trump fans will dismiss anyway. Not that Qatar (who funds Aljazeera) has any love for Iran. Israel has banned Aljazeera, raided their offices, killed their reporters in Gaza and blocks access to them on the internet so they're likely more trustworthy than CNN...

https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2026/3/1/us-israel-attacks-on-iran-death-toll-and-injuries-live-tracker

Preliminary figures are 1,444 dead in Iran, at least 18 in Israel, 13 US soldiers and 21 killed in Gulf states.

US forces have struck more than 7,000 targets in Iran since February 28, the US Central Command (CENTCOM), which oversees US forces in the region, said on March 16. Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) says it has launched attacks on at least 27 bases in the Middle East where US troops are deployed, as well as Israeli military facilities in Tel Aviv and other parts of Israel.

Iran – killed: 1,444, injured: 18,551

At least 1,444 people have been killed and 18,551 injured by US-Israeli attacks on Iran since February 28, Iran’s Health Ministry says.

The victims’ ages ranged from eight months to 88 years old
200 women are among those killed
168 children were killed in a girls’ elementary school in Minab
55 healthcare workers were wounded and 11 killed, including four physicians, two nurses and three emergency workers

Lebanon – killed: 1,001, injured: 2,584

The number of people killed in Lebanon since Israel renewed widespread attacks on the country last Monday now stands at 1,001, according to Lebanon’s Health Ministry. Among those killed are at least 118 children. More than 2,584 people have also been wounded. More than one million people have been registered as displaced since the outbreak of the war.

Israel – killed: 18, injured: 3,730

At least 18 people in Israel have been killed and more than 3,730 others wounded in Iranian attacks. Israel’s Health Ministry urged Israelis to rush to bomb shelters “with caution”, noting that people have been injured while running to shelters. On March 1, an Iranian ballistic missile strike on central Israel’s Beit Shemesh killed nine people and injured more than 20.

US soldiers – killed: 13, injured: 200

The US military has confirmed 13 fatalities from Iranian attacks across the region. Additionally, one service member died of a “health-related incident” in Kuwait. On March 13, US CENTCOM announced all six crew members were killed when a US refuelling aircraft crashed in western Iraq.

They're likely all under counted like the death toll in Gaza.

Meanwhile the number of people killed in Iran's demonstrations keeps inflating, estimates ranging from 7,000 to over 36,500. On 22 January, HRANA updated its verified death counts to 4,714 adult protesters, 42 minors, 207 security force members, and 39 non-participants; and its count of deaths still under investigation to 9,798 people.

Faced with the ferocity of the Iranian strikes in response to the attacks on the Islamic Republic's nuclear plants, both Donald Trump and Benjamin Netanyahu are now urging the international fraternity to come to their rescue. Rifat Jawaid analyses the day's development.

Netanyahu came out of hiding to plea for help, with threats of course.
By his 'logic' everyone should be carpet bombing the US because the US can strike anywhere.

There is also doubt about the missiles shot at the Indian ocean, the 4,000 km range rockets. Iran denies it, rumors are they were fired from an Israeli submarine, Nato isn't sure it was Iran. It's possibly an Israeli false flag operation to get Nato involved.

Now of course Iran could very well be lying, but why? If it was meant as a deterrent against UK involvement, why would they lie about it. And what does Iran have to gain by revealing a 4,000 km missile range, firing two and dropping them in the oceanYou don't reveal your cards like that. Logic suggests a false flag attack to get the UK and Europe onboard.

"Quote, for a bit more than two weeks of this war we could offer free college education to every American family earning less than $125,000 annually. That would be $30 billion a year. Remember they are looking for $200 billion."

Al Jazeera is rated mixed for accurate reporting. Qatar only has around 300,000 citizens with a population over 2 million. It's also a strict monarchy or some other non-democratic government.

I considered it but ultimately can't think of them as a reliable source.

Hah that site still says CNN and BBC are mostly factual. What's the bias check on mediabiasfactcheck ;) Both have been exposed in recent years. It even says NYT is High despite deliberately running disinformation articles, exposed last year and refusing to issue corrections.

Plus that site seems to focus on the left/right nonsense. Which is biased in itself. At least it rates FOX as Low, still too high lol.

It really depends on what they're reporting on how reliable the information is, hence always double check, cross reference. When it comes to the ME, Aljazeera is far more trustworthy than any Western outlets. But, yes, Aljazeera has bias as well when it comes to Qatar.

The Guardian cites over 1,500 dead in Iran.

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2026/mar/22/iran-war-timeline-civilians-bear-brunt-of-us-and-israels-month-long-campaign

Hindustan times reports 3,114 people have been killed according to HRANA. It said 1,354 of those were civilians including 207 children.

https://www.hindustantimes.com/world-news/how-many-people-have-been-killed-in-the-us-iran-war-4000-show-estimates-101773895355129.html

Iran state media puts it at 1,270

https://www.reuters.com/world/middle-east/how-many-people-have-been-killed-us-israel-war-iran-2026-03-17/

US has been dropping 2,000 pound bombs on Iran, which have a kill radius of 350 meters and can structurally damage buildings in a 850 meter radius. There are many civilian casualties no doubt. Those are the bombs Biden halted the shipments of to Israel as they were generating too much news in Gaza, too many deaths at once reaching through to the mainstream media.

Don't just look at one source, look at many.
