Forums - Nintendo - Is super mario galaxy for switch honestly just a...

Is it a greedy price for the amount of effort put into porting this?
Yes... 100% without a doubt.

Is it worth the price anyways? probably, Mario Galaxy 1&2 are fantastic games.
This is nothing new though, Nintendo can be really scummy and greedy at times.
They do however make some really darn good 1st party games.

*edit:
I mean a 19 year old game, with barely any work done on it, port wise.
This should have been like a 20-40$ title (for both games combined), and would have been if it was say steam/playstation/xbox.

Port of the wii game?

Like seriously?

I just put this game into my switch today expecting some kind of polish, but its literally just a ctrl+c ctrl+v on a switch cartridge. What a scam.

Yes, i did buy it and i don't regret my purchase at all,  but i always give money to nintendo no matter what they put out because thats just kind of my role in this whole thing. But still, I cant believe nintendo is doing this and everyone is just cool with it. They couldnt use all the money theyve made from all these championships to make the game run in high definition or give it any sort of polish at all? The whole thing is a disgrace and its shameful. How much work could it have really taken? Especially considering the price of the damn thing. If they were just going to copy paste it, it should be $30 for the package at absolute most. I still just cant believe this. I would say don't buy it but i don't want to negatively impact nintendos earnings in any way, so still buy it of course, im not saying not to, just make sure to post on the internet how immoral this whole thing is, but also make clear to others that you're not saying not to buy it either. We need to expect better from nintendo.

Money talks.
Nintendo fans are really forgiving..... saying something but not following through, isn't going to fix anything.

I find the idea of buying direct ports to be pretty abhorrent indeed, but it's not like they advertised Galaxy as remasters

It's for people who are fine with paying high for low quality content

Those are harsh words (low quality content).
Galaxy 1&2 are fantastic games.

The issue is the level of care, and porting efforts vs the insane prices Nintendo asks.
You can't help but feel your getting screwed, even if you enjoy the games.

I don't mind that they're direct ports, Having physical copies of old games on Switch/Switch 2 is pretty cool. Like Star Wars Jedi Outcast, Rollercoaster Tycoon, FF VII/VIII that are already released physically.

It's a pricing issue, old games with minimal changes is fine, charging $70 isn't. SMG1+2 shouldn't cost as much as a brand new 3D Mario.

Price is awful for those titles. But textures where updated and both are in the top 3 best platformers of all time, with banjo.

Still, emulation and texture packs are available. I do hope the S2 cools off. Nintendo is getting a bit big for their britches, such as prime 4 desert music being locked behind an amiibo.

Nintendo is the best developer in gaming but also the most anti-consumer. Heck mario 3d all stars was a limited digital release.

Issue is, I don't even think Galaxy 1 to be good (never played 2). It's the only 3D Mario I didn't like

I mean it's clearly just a port to profit on the movie that's coming out. They never marketed it as a high end remaster. The price def should be a bit lower.

Playing it on dolphin is better.

You know it deserves the GOTY.
