Forums - Nintendo - Pragmata and Resident Evil Requiem @ 60FPS on Switch 2!

I do have 1 big complaint with the demo. The gyro controls are the worst I've ever seen. Maximum sensitivity barely registers any movement at all, making aiming completely impossible. They had better fix that by the time the game releases. It shouldn't be any issue to just make the gyro controls function like they did in the RE5 Switch port.

That's weird, they seemed to work fine for me, maximum was actually a bit too sensitive for me, I ended up setting it at 7/10.

A bug maybe?

Just beat the demo. I'm sold on the game. Gameplay is great and novel, visuals are great even on Switch and I'm intrigued by the story. Hell, this might be the first GKC I ever purchase.

Regarding the framerate, it's definitely not rock solid 60. A good comparison would be Bayonetta 3 on Switch 1. Which is not ideal, but I would still say it's a very decent experience. I rather have the framerate fluctuate between 45-60 than being locked at 30.

I will check handheld mode when I have some spare time...

Yeah having played the full demo now, it's very enjoyable.

The hacking stuff is snappy and satisfying, and I usually find these find of minigames obnoxious.

Movement is a good mix of weighty but still responsive, and the slick industrial/robotic aesthetic kinda reminds me a bit of Vanquish, which I loved.

Definitely picking up the full game.

THANK YOU! I knew the aesthetics reminded me of something, but I couldn't point my finger on what. Vanquish. Thank you xD

Hmm.  Maybe I should try reinstalling it.  Were you playing docked or handheld?  I've only tried docked so far.  Maybe handheld is better.

Tried it docked now, it's much better experience. Even without VRR the drops are less noticeable and it's better image quality.

I only play handled though, but for people that do use it docked it's good.

I played in docked mode; maybe it's another setting that's messing it up like camera speed or something? So weird.

I beat the demo again in portable mode. A tad too blurry for my taste, but still looks very good. Framerate certainly drops, but it's very comparable to docked mode.

I like that the demo has some replayability. On this second playthrough they threw in a new weapon, a cute new skin for my suit and a slowmotion mechanic when you dodge perfectly. Very cool stuff.

Took a couple of screenshots comparing the docked/handheld visuals.

Docked / Handheld

Seems the main difference is some light sources are disabled and a sizeable reduction in image quality, not noticing many other cutbacks. Definitely upscaling from a low base resolution, there's a lot more visual noise in the handheld version.

I'm not sure what FPS it drops to in handheld, but I doubt it's dropping below 40fps often if at all so a 40fps mode that bumps up the resolution a little bit and has a more consistent framerate would be great to see. In that image the laser gate is probably what highlights the resolution difference the most. The upscaler is having a hard time with it.

Other than the drop in resolution and lighting the other visuals seem mostly to be in-tact. Personally, I would choose how it is currently rather than go all the way down to 30fps though. The beauty of VRR is they don't even need to go all the way down to 40fps, they could cap it at 45,50 or whatever they want in handheld depending on how it is actually performing currently, all I know for sure is it's not 60.
