Both games arrived late in the Switch's life, and took a revered first party IP in a very non-traditional direction.

Which did you think was the better game, and why?

This has to be the easiest vote I’ve ever made: While I have yet to play MP4B, it sounds to me that the game is good fun… but ends with a several-hours-long grinding mission. And this is in a game which is not much more than a dozen hours. This in addition to many flaws with the Federation Force and open world design, it’s hard to walk away from this game feeling very pleased. Definitely a low-light of the Switch generation.

Zelda Echoes of Wisdom, on the other hand, is one of my most played games on Switch, and is one of my favorite games to release on the system. It takes a simple concept of spawning and dragging around enemies/items, and creates an >60hr open world experience out of it. The story is rich, the puzzles while simple are highly satisfying to come up with interesting new approaches to, etc. This in addition to the absolutely delightful OST, I cannot speak higher praises of this game.

MP4 is a very good game.  People are just whiny. Also it's not open world. It's an overworld same as OoT.

I'd give both games 7.5/10, but I think Echoes of Wisdom is closer to hitting an 8/10. I will say they both have great music. Gerudo Sanctum FTW

Oh I would agree that both are good games, they're more black sheep in that they're in the odd one out compared to most other Zelda/Metroid games just cos they do things quite differently.

I love Metroid. It's one of my favorite franchises... And Super Metroid is one of my favorite games of all time.

...But Zelda wins this hands down.

Does anyone think of Echoes of Wisdom as a "black sheep"?

I always got the impression that due to being very different from most of their series both were a bit of an odd duck.

Since folks are getting stuck on that particular term though, I edited the thread title.

Zelda is my favorite franchise, I legit think wisdom is average at best. Battle system is slow and tedious, most of the game is just meh. Puzzles dont feel like puzzles. More like craft a bunch of random stuff and toss it around the screen.

I also loathed how much they nerfed zelda.  I don't get why she couldn't have a rapier or bow/arrow.  

I enjoyed both games, but I'd give the slight edge of Prime 4; Echoes had a few difficulty spikes late in the game, while Prime 4 was more consistent throughout.
