ALSO, don’t wussy out and choose like ten different games: Your limit is (at most!) two games.

Ocarina of Time, just to experience a landmark title in gaming history that laid the groundwork for so many of the games we enjoy today in terms of how to utilize the third dimension.

You know… something that’s never made sense to me is just how “meh” I feel about SMB3. Of all Mario games I’ve played (and, yes, I’ve played every single one!… with the exception of NSMBU, NSMB2, SMB2, and SMB:TLL. But I’m getting around to them.), SMB3 is definitely the most underwhelming for me. I love the New Super Mario Bros series and I love the SNES games… but SMB3 just doesn’t do it for me. IDK I really wish I could share in others’ passion for the game.
Super Mario World and Chrono Trigger
Timeless classics
Easy to get into , not too complex in gameplay or structure and fun to play
Also accessible in today's standards with Super Mario World being available on NSO Classics and Chrono Trigger available on Steam (any computer system should be able to run this) and iOS/android.

StarCraft: Brood Wars. The pinnacle of RTS games and RTS story telling with perfect balance.
Became one of the first eSports games, had it's own dedicated TV channels, tournaments with prize money and more.

For me, it's the complete opposite. It's the most magical of all the 2D games. I turn the lights off, pop that cart in and drift away into a sea of wonder for a couple hours straight as if I'm literally dreaming, as if I'm under a spell. Koji Kondo's score alone is enough to enchanting me. It's simply the best of the best when it comes to 2D Mario.
If you would have been around when it launched, you'd understand. To this day, there still hasn't been a 2D Mario as big as it was. It was a cultural event, like Dragon Quest was in Japan, only worldwide. The biggest of the biggest. That's why I chose it.
And OOT, while not as big an event, did similar things with 3D. Never before had I been drawn into a world and held captive like I was when I got that game. And to this day, I still haven't had another 3D game match it. I've gotten close once, but not quite.
Last edited by JackHandy - 6 days agoMario Kart (any title from the series). Easy to learn, hard to master and I have yet to meet someone who isnt't having a blast playing with three other people. It's also fun to play alone. It never gets old. It's pure concentrated fun and pretty much what gaming is all about. If I had to pick just one for everybody, it would be this.
Maybe Minecraft. I know a lot of people don't like that game. But honestly there is pretty much nothing you can't do in Minecraft. People are building working processors inside that game! So there should be something for everybody to enjoy.
